Warning: The Following Article Contains SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 5 - "Imposters"Star Trek: Picard season 3 has set the stage for some potentially exciting spinoffs, but a permanent reunion between Commander Seven Of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Commander Raffi Musiker (Michelle Hurd) doesn't seem very likely right now. A flirtation between Seven and Raffi was hinted at in the final moments of Picard season 1, and the ups and downs of their potential relationship was a focal point during season 2. While the end of season 2 suggested Seven and Raffi may finally be on the same page, their romance would not last long.
By the beginning of Star Trek: Picard season 3, Seven and Raffi had broken up, with Seven taking a Starfleet posting as the First Officer of the USS Titan-A under Captain Liam Shaw (Todd Stashwick), while Raffi took up a job with Starfleet Intelligence on the planet M'talas Prime. Raffi was later ed in her mission by the legendary Klingon Worf (Michael Dorn), who has been her constant companion this season. While there was a time when many clamored for a spinoff featuring Seven and Raffi, Picard season 3 has indicated the characters may be going in different directions.
Picard Season 3 Doesn't Set Up Seven & Raffi's Spinoff
Star Trek: Picard season 3 has given both Seven and Raffi plenty to keep them busy. Seven continues to try to find a place for herself in society, finally a full-fledged member of Starfleet, though saddled with a commanding officer in Shaw who has complicated feelings about the former Borg officer. For her part, Raffi has found something of a mentor in Worf, the fierce warrior who now espouses the benefits of pacifism, as the pair uncover details of the Changeling plan against the Federation on M'talas Prime.
Seven and Raffi are yet to meet face to face in Picard season 3, though that figures to change now that Raffi and Worf have finished their work on M'talas Prime and appear primed to partner with iral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) aboard the USS Titan-A. It should be a fascinating reunion, as Ryan and Hurd have unmistakable chemistry. That said, there has been essentially no push this season to set up a spinoff for the pair.
Does Raffi Have A Place In A Possible Picard Titan Spinoff?
The most obvious, popular option for a Star Trek: Picard spinoff at this point is a show set on the Star Trek: Voyager. The cantankerous Shaw has revealed himself to be a fascinating character as the season has unfolded, traumatized by the infamous Borg attack on Wolf 359 led by an assimilated Picard.
There's not an immediately obvious spot for Raffi on a theoretical spinoff set aboard the Titan-A. Her rank and experience means she would likely be a bridge officer on a Starfleet ship at this point, and having her serve directly under Seven is probably not a dynamic that would work. The idea of a Star Trek: Picard spinoff starring Seven and Raffi is likely outdated at this point, made obsolete by a season that's ironically been fantastic for both characters.
Star Trek: Picard Season 3 streams Thursdays on Paramount+.
