The next big its release on consoles, the Chronicle update is set to change some major elements of the game.
Chronicle will release on June 24, 2025 as a free update to the main game, and will introduce a full overhaul of the game's evidence collection system. There will be three new evidence types, including a new sound-based evidence category, new equipment, a redesign of the game's journal, and a lot more.
Everything Coming To The Game In Chronicle
New Equipment, New Evidence System, And A Lot More
The Chronicle update is large. One of the biggest new additions is the Sound Recorder device. The Sound Recorder will be the primary new equipment to gather sound-based evidence, and it will come in three different upgrade tiers. Players will be able to record sound from ghost events, spirit box responses, and paranormal sounds.
Additionally, the journal will receive a full redesign. The Photos tab will be replaced with a full Media tab, which will organize all three types of paranormal evidence: photos, videos, and the new sound recordings. All evidence will now be logged in one place, allowing players to better manage their samples.

"This One Made My Heart Hurt": Phasmophobia Ghost Writing Hits Players Right In Their Feels
Phasmophobia’s ghostwriting has players feeling more than just fear, as some spirits seem to be asking for help, sparking talk of a new game mechanic.
The game's evidence system is also seeing a redesign. The first evidence capture of any media type will be marked as "Unique", granting extra cash and XP rewards at the end of each contract. Any subsequent captures of the same evidence type will be classed as "Duplicates", offering smaller rewards. The new system will also add tier bonuses based on the equipment used and adds all media captures into the Reward Multiplier.
Finally, Phasmophobia will be getting a lot of general changes. The leveling and progression systems will be reworked, a new main menu UI will be introduced, and there will be several bug fixes and general improvements.
Chronicle Gives Even More Life To Phasmophobia
The Game Keeps Getting Better
The Chronicle update is massive, and should bring a lot of new interest to the title, as well as new tools for veterans. As part of the 2025 roap for the game, Chronicle is just part of what all is to come in 2025 for Phasmophobia. Later this year, the game will get a player character overhaul, new maps, and new seasonal events for Halloween and Christmas.
With less than a month to go until the Chronicle update, fans won't have much longer to wait until they can jump back into the game with new tools and a more streamlined evidence-gathering system. It seems like Phasmopobia is the horror gift that keeps on giving.
