Atlus's popular 2D fighting game, popular fighting game series Guilty Gear, Ultimax garnered acclaim for its refined gameplay and was credited as being superior to its predecessor.

Announced during The Game Awards 2021 as a part of its 25th anniversary, Official ATLUS West revealed that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is getting a modern re-release next year on March 17. The title will be available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, with pre-orders for the PC version opening up very soon. New content from the Ultimax version will be included, with a good chance that the title will be receiving rollback netcode for its online play due to Arc System Works' recent of older games with the feature.

A new game or remaster was hinted at during Persona's 25th-anniversary celebration announcement, with a note from the publisher that revealed that the year-long campaign would bring about numerous exciting announcements for fans worldwide. While many expected Persona 5 on PC or an exclusive Persona 3 remake, the anniversary campaign is set to be span into Fall 2022 so the reveal of another title could be feasible. Until then, players can soon jump back into the Shadow World with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, as the team battles it out in a combat tournament.
