As Adrian Chase (a.k.a. Vigilante), and his hateful father in the process. Though he’s a formidable enemy, the White Dragon’s potential undoing was hinted at by Vigilante in the show’s fourth episode.
The DCEU’s version of White Dragon combines elements of two DC Comics characters: Wolfgang Schmidt and Daniel Ducannon. Auggie Smith, like both characters, is a white supremacist, but he uses the outfit of Ducannon while being the father of Christopher Smith like Schmidt. The DCEU gave him the original name of Auggie Smith and established that he trained his son Christopher to be a weapons expert with peak human physical conditioning.
Considering Peacemaker’s physical conditioning and combat skills, the White Dragon is most likely comparably capable, making him an extremely threatening villain. In Peacemaker episode 4, “The Choad Less Traveled,” however, Vigilante immediately noted the weaknesses of Smith’s armored White Dragon suit, pointing out large gaps in the armor. This detail not only predicts how the White Dragon might be defeated in Peacemaker, but it also demonstrates Vigilante’s resourcefulness.
Understandably, the strongest points on Auggie Smith’s White Dragon suit appear to be the chest and head, but the suit cloth portions on the torso and legs are vulnerable. With the White Dragon resolving to kill his son at the end of episode 6, Peacemaker will be facing an opponent who’s not only comparable in skill but far better equipped, using an advanced suit with offensive weaponry and strength enhancements. As Vigilante noted, however, the suit has weak points that will likely be exploited by either him or Peacemaker.
As shown throughout Peacemaker, Auggie Smith is also a keen strategist, noting that Adrian Chase provoked his white supremacist cronies to attack him and not taking the bait. Moreover, Peacemaker is hesitant to oppose his father simply because of their familial relation, adding to the White Dragon’s advantage against his son. With this in mind, Vigilante may end up simply reminding Peacemaker of the suit’s vulnerabilities, allowing him to finally stand up to his abusive father and defeat him.
Vigilante’s observation also highlights his own skills as a fighter. Although he lacks a military background, Vigilante is shown to be an extremely skilled fighter, easily overpowering Auggie Smith’s underlings and demonstrating effortless skills with a variety of weapons. Vigilante is also notably clever, despite his childlike demeanor, and by pointing out the flaws in the White Dragon’s suit, he’s proven to be an invaluable ally to Peacemaker.
Peacemaker releases new episodes Thursdays on HBO Max.
