Patrick Stewart teases his possible return as Professor X, as well as the debut of Ian McKellen's Magneto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Making a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Stewart's Charles Xavier is the first Fox/X-Men character who made the crossover to the MCU. Thanks to the multiverse, the actor can still reprise his iconic Marvel role in the expanding universe despite his death in Logan and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Previously, Stewart said that he's on standby when it comes to playing Professor X again in the MCU. In a new interview with ET Online, he continues to tease his next outing as the mutant and McKellen possibly ing him as Magneto. Read his full answer below:

Actually, it went very well. He did say something like ['Hey, I would've done this!'], yes that's true. But we're not done, Sir Ian and myself. We're... we got plans."

Can McKellen’s Magneto Appear In The MCU?

Magneto surrounded by mist in X-Men: The Last Stand.

After the debut of Stewart's Professor X in the MCU, Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Both characters already died in the Fox/X-Men universe via Logan, but Marvel Studios can bring them back because of MCU's burgeoning multiverse. Like Stewart and Jackman, McKellen is also beloved in his mutant role, so it isn't outside the realm of possibility that Marvel Studios actually brings him back.

For now, Marvel Studios is keeping its X-Men plans close to the chest. It's unclear if the mutants will even be fully debuted before the culmination of the Multiverse Saga with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. That being said, both films, particularly the latter, would be the perfect opportunity to bring back McKellen's Magneto, even if it's only for a brief cameo.

There is no doubt that there's interest to see McKellen return as Magneto in the MCU. The actor was so good in the role, and his chemistry with Stewart was also excellent. If Marvel Studios can take advantage of that in the main franchise, it would be a great treat for long-time fans. Despite their proposed cameos, chances are that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will still introduce its version of Magneto and Professor X, who will be primary players in the universe in the long run.
