Even though they’re angels, the trailer makes it clear that they’re not heroic characters, so even if they’re not flat-out evil, New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt’s new trailer all but states that the main conflict will revolve around Panty and Stocking fighting the new angels Polyester and Polyurethane. Previous New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt trailers hinted at Panty and Stocking working with Scanty and Kneesocks, and that could be an easy reason why.

On a more comedic note, there’s also what’s being promised in the way of fanservice. With Polyester and Polyurethane being shown in a background similar to Panty and Stocking’s transformation sequence, coupled with them having their own theme song, they’ll likely get their own striptease-based transformation sequences, meaning that New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt will expand on the original anime’s iconic fanservice by finally adding male characters to the mix. Panty & Stocking has always been one of the best anime for fanservice, so the idea of it expanding that to include male characters is plenty of fun to think about.

Even after so many years, the original Panty & Stocking anime remains an iconic cult classic thanks to its creative visuals and animation coupled with its witty and hilarious dialogue, the latter of which was especially apparent in the stellar English dub. As such, New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is exciting because it provides a chance to see more of the original series, and with how much anime has evolved in recent years, it’s bound to be even better to watch.

There’s also the matter of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt’s original ending.
