Pamela Anderson reveals new details about her Netflix documentary. Hulu's Pam & Tommy just finished airing earlier this month, wrapping up on March 9. Over eight episodes, the miniseries chronicled the turbulent three-year marriage between Pamela Anderson (played by Lily James) and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan), with a particular focus on the theft and illegal distribution of the couple's notorious sex tape that they recorded privately during their honeymoon.
Anderson's desire to tell her own version of the story stems from the fact that she had no involvement in Pam & Tommy, nor did she consent to have her life story dramatized. Earlier this month, Anderson announced news of a Netflix documentary that is currently in the works from director Ryan White. The film will "tell the real story" through Anderson's perspective, including an intimate look at her personal and professional life through never-before-seen archival footage and journal entries.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Anderson revealed some more details about her Netflix doc. First off, the Baywatch actress says the documentary will be at least two parts. It will also feature a look at her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago. Read what Anderson had to say below:
They’re actually following me through this journey, so they get to see a little bit of me preparing for Roxie as well. But we weren’t intending on doing that. Roxie just came along literally in the last few weeks.
News of Anderson's Broadway debut in Chicago came just days after Netflix announced the documentary. The actress will play the lead role of Roxie in the long-running musical, a woman catapulted into fame as a result of a tragic event, which does share some stark similarities to Anderson's own story. Other than her turn as Roxie, Anderson's documentary will seemingly touch on a few of her other popular acting gigs, such as Lisa on Home Improvement, C.J. Parker on Baywatch, and her titular role in the 1996 box office disaster Barb Wire.
Considering that the documentary will be told in two parts and possibly more, there will be plenty of time to cover all aspects of Anderson's life. Her desire to "tell the real story" also seems to indicate the documentary will set the record straight on her infamous sex tape scandal as well. Anderson has no interest in watching Pam & Tommy, so it's unclear what she thinks of the provided by the Hulu series or how her own perspective might differ. The Netflix documentary does not yet have a release date, though expect one to be announced after they finish filming footage of her role in Chicago, which Pamela Anderson will play on Broadway from this April to June.
