Cozy MMO Palia has received its biggest update since launching in 2023 with a major new zone called the Elderwood. This new zone comes with new collectibles, resources, critters, and, of course, quests. One early quest, as part of the main Elderwood questline, sees you sent into the spooky forested zone in search of stables to help you navigate the map, but some are a little tricky to find.

Stables in Palia act as fast travel points, allowing easier travel around the various zones in exchange for gold. While the stables in Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay are already unlocked, Palia’s new Elderwood expansion has introduced a new mechanic, which I rather like, requiring each stable in the area to be visited to be unlocked for use. The Elderwood has a lot more vertical exploration than previous areas, which makes travel a lot of fun, with massive trees and mushrooms to glide from covering large portions of the map.

Nai'o Needs Some Help In Palia's New Zone

Nai'o in the Elderwood Central Stable in Palia

After meeting Nai'o in the Central Stable of the Elderwood, he'll explain that he wants to expand the stable system but can't find all the original locations. He'll show you a map and explain that you need to touch each stable to update it. Caleri has told Nai'o that the stables have lost their magical connection to the map, and although he doesn't understand the magic or runes, he figures you will.

As the map is magic, it will automatically fill in any stables already discovered, such as the Central Stable. Each stable has a vague name to give a clue where it is located, but with four main zones covering the large Elderwoods map, it isn't hard to figure out where to start looking for each. The stables don't have to be found in any particular order, and while two are fairly easy to spot, the other two did give me some trouble when I went hunting for them.

How To Find Every Stable In The Elderwood

There Are Four New Stables In Total

There are five stables in the Elderwood, with the Central Stable acting as the zone’s hub where Subira, Tamala, and other villagers can be found for various quests. This is also where relics can be turned in in order to craft awesome new items. After unlocking the Central Stable, the other stables can be discovered on the massive new map.

Where Is The Pinecone Stable (Mitana Grove)

Although somewhat tucked away, the Pinecone Stable is very easy to find, located in F2 of the map grid at the very top of the new Elderwood zone. To find the Pinecone Stable, head north out of the Central Stable and follow the path. Once out of the cavern system, climb up the short cliff to your left and again just keep heading north. Clicking on the stable board will update the quest and unlock Mitana Grove as a fast travel point.

Where Is The Tall Tree Stable (Deep Woods)

Heading south from either the Central Stables or Mitana Grove, the Tall Tree Stable is located in the Deep Woods area of the Elderwood. This one gave me some trouble as the stable is located midway up one of the huge trees, in grid G8 of the map.

The Deep Woods area is also filled with Bouncy Shrooms, which propel you into the air and make finding the stable much easier.

Luckily, these trees have large mushrooms growing out of the side, which act as platforms. Gliding over to the tree and climbing up, going from platform to platform, is the easiest way to find the stable.

Where Is The Lakeside Stable (De Mer)

The Lakeside Stable is the easiest of Palia's new stables to find, located on the far west side of the map. In map grid C8, the stable can be found on the southern most dock in the De Mer Dock area of Okanaa Bog.

Players just starting out in Palia will benefit from knowing a few key tips and tricks before fully diving into this cozy open-world MMO adventure.

The easiest route I found from the Central Stables is to take the south path and follow it south and then west, through the Red Blossom Cave. From there, it is very easy to spot the stable on the pier.

Where Is The Rocky Cliff Stable (Mauvais Way)

The final stable, the Rocky Cliff Stable, took me a while to find, as it is tucked away behind a large climbable tree. From the De Mer Dock, head north into the Okanna Bog and up into Mauvais Way. The stable is at the northern edge of the map in grid C3, inside the pavilion displayed on the map. As you approach, you will be able to see a large tree root that can be climbed to reach the trunk of one of the huge climbable Elderwood trees.

I found it easier to climb the small cliff to the left of the tree to reach the platform where the stable is. Interacting with it will unlock the Mauvais Way Stable and update the quest to return to Nai'o. Once all the new stables in Palia have been unlocked, Nai'o will offer to teach you how to craft your own to place on your home plot for much easier travel around all zones.
