The new relaxed lifestyle game, Palia, grants players many freedoms when it comes to choosing a path to tool upgrades. Much like Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda: TOTK, Palia is a new kind of MMO that takes exploration to a new level where players will have to figure out how to cultivate their landscape properly. Knowing which tools and upgrades first will benefit a player greatly with their progression, like most open-world games. Regardless, the Palia developers, Singularity 6, make this cozy game easy to play so picking tools that interest players the most too will be completely fine.

Shortly after the player finishes the Palia tutorial they will have access to all tools and their upgrades. The important thing to note is that materials, currency, and recipes are needed in order to further these upgrades to make their effects stronger. Get introduced to each villager in charge of each activity early on to start working and resource gathering. Keep in mind, tools become weaker and can break from overuse.

There are many routes a player can take in Palia with a list of tools and respective activities that come with each upgrade. Much like many other cozy open-world games the standard fishing, foraging, mining, hunting, gardening, and cooking are accessible in this game for survival and progression.

Due to the game's personalization efforts Furniture Making is introduced for the player's homestead. The Bug Catching activity in Palia is up to personal preference as it's more of a collection effort within the game. The list of Tools and Activities in-game include:

Upgrading tools in Palia come with the use of a recipe which is a sort of blueprint. This blueprint includes mostly a collection of resources. For example, finding Heartwood in Palia and Iron or Copper can be used to upgrade a Pickaxe or a Fine Hoe.

The cost of each upgrade depends on the level, durability, and resource output that the player will progress with. As usual, lower level upgrades are either free or require a small fee and so on to larger and larger fees.

Tool to Upgrade First

Hunting uses the Bow Tool in Palia

The tools players have been upgrading in Palia first have mostly been centered around money-making with Hunting and Bows. Many online content creators recommend both of these first due to the spawn of certain easy Palia animals that give a large selling output. YouTuber Palia's open BETA, with the best way to farm Gold giving approximately a 15k Gold per hour output.

Right now, players should just choose how they want to live whether that means min-maxing early on or day-to-day curious progression.
