While progressing through Palia, one of the things that will be encountered during the story is the Ancient Battery Puzzle. This puzzle must be solved in order to progress any further in the story, but it can be a little tricky to figure out. This puzzle will occur while completing the Ancient Battery quest.
After playing through the beginning of Palia, players will come to eventually send an item off to Jina and then receive the Ancient Battery via mailbox with instructions to travel to Phoenix Falls. While there, cross the bridge and hang left until reaching the large gold door. Head through the door to enter the Temple of Waves in the ruins and find a bowl in the center of the room with a riddle.
How To Solve The Temple of Waves Riddle
The bowl itself will not offer much clue as to what is to be done in the room, however, while exploring the room there are some other clues lying around. First, the pillar on the left will state,
"Roots of Darkness take hold from echoed woes, our hope shall live on as long as this water flows"
While this isn't the riddle itself, it does provide some keywords that are worth paying attention to when it comes to solving the real riddle. The pillar on the opposing side won't shed much light on anything, so head over to the door on the other side of the room to hear the riddle to the Temple. There will be an inscription on the door that reads,
"Knowledge grows the mind even in times of strife. To enter here, you must supply that which grows life"
Though it's a pretty vague riddle, those who recall what the first clue said about hope living on as long as water flows, will have an easier time putting things together. While it is the direct solution, it's clear that water has some relation to the answer. With that in mind and the empty bowl in the center, the solution becomes quite clear. Head to the center of the room where the bowl resides and open the tool wheel to select the watering can. Once selected, use it to fill the large bowl.
There are several tool upgrades to craft in Palia that can be incredibly helpful, including some for the watering can, however, that upgrade will not be necessary in order to complete this puzzle, so players are better off investing in other upgrades for now.
After the bowl has been filled with water, the large door will begin to glow and open, allowing further exploration into the Ruins where the next quest resides. For completing the riddle, players will earn some Renown as well as have completed the quest for Jina. At this point, players may choose to proceed on through the Ruins or leave to complete other Palia tasks and come back later.
