With the newest Street Fighter 6, alongside other high-quality cosmetics. From emotes that reference special moves from the popular fighting game to unique titles to grab, there's a lot packed into this crossover. If you're someone like me who's a fan of both games, this event will leave you latched onto the hero shooter once again.

As someone who plays fighting games like Street Fighter 6 often, I am astounded by the sheer quality of the skins being presented in the Overwatch 2 collab. A wide variety of characters receive skins resembling the original World Warriors and fan-favorites like Juri from Street Fighter 4. With the honeymoon phase of Marvel Rivals closing somewhat, it might be the perfect time to return to Overwatch's world.

What To Expect From Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6

Unlock Eight Legendary Skins For Different Heroes

The biggest addition to Overwatch 2 from the Street Fighter 6 collaboration is how eight different characters receive Legendary skins resembling characters from the iconic Capcom fighting game. Every skin is crafted with far more detail than you would expect from other crossover events, living up to their Legendary moniker easily. The skins included in the collab event are:

  • M. Bison - Sigma
  • Juri Han - Kiriko
  • Chun Li - Juno
  • Ryu - Hanzo
  • Cammy - Widowmaker
  • Blanka - Winston
  • Guile - Soldier 76
  • Dhalsim - Zenyatta

Unlike other collabs, where characters are in simple cosplay, these skins come with unique animations and visual effects that reference the skills of the fighters they adopt. Each skin has nods to mvoes, stances, and personalities of Street Fighter characters, making them far more detailed than other cosmetics.

Several emotes are also to be added alongside Legendary Street Fighter skins in Overwatch 2 that resemble a fighter's special moves. For example, you can unlock the Tatsumaki Senpu-kyaku (Hurricane Kick), Shoryuken (Rising Fist), and Hadouken (Fireball) emotes for Hanzo to resemble Ryu's classic attacks.

The Street Fighter 6 Mega Bundle will include all of these skins, but players will be able to purchase any fighter individually as well. In-game challenges throughout the event offer opportunities to earn exclusive items related to the event, such as unique Sprays, Voice Lines, and a Street Fighter Title. You'll also be able to earn up to 40,000 XP, giving you more reasons to complete event missions.

A Smart Collab For Overwatch 2

Fans Are Thrilled To See Such Detailed Content

The extreme amount of detail put into this Street Fighter collaboration has received much positive from fans, including myself. I don't think I've seen an Overwatch 2 collab event include so much content from top to bottom, with detailed references, custom animations, and more. Past crossovers have been good, but there's an extra ion to this one that seems to stand above the rest.

All the skins used for characters make sense, especially some clear choices, like M. Bison for Sigma or Guile for Soldier 76. This adds to the quality of the cosmetics, especially when you factor in the special move emotes, voice lines, and other details. Unlike the other collabs, where characters merely adopt the looks of certain characters, it feels like authentic Street Fighter characters have entered Overwatch's world.

The Street Fighter collaboration has the most skins ever offered during an Overwatch 2 crossover event from a franchise outside of Blizzard. The sheer amount of content players can get already puts this event above previous ones.

The attention to detail for all the cosmetics in this event makes each one worth obtaining. Fans of Street Fighter 6 can get several items that all lovingly highlight the personalities and fighting styles of their favorite characters. At the same time, Overwatch 2 players who aren't familiar with Street Fighter may enjoy new Legendary skins for several characters, adopting cool new looks while learning more about the fighting game franchise's iconic faces.

An Expansive Event Highlights New Hype

With this collab event being so exciting through its sheer amount of content, it highlights all the things Overwatch 2 is doing well right now. The Stadium mode in Overwatch 2 offers a fresh gameplay experience that allows players to play intense games from a third-person perspective. With Perks allowing players to customize playstyles for their favorite heroes, the gameplay of Overwatch 2 has never been more fresh.

How do you feel about Overwatch 2 bringing back lootboxes?

Despite being one of the more divisive elements of both the original game and the wider free-to-play sphere of gaming, Blizzard has revealed that Overwatch season 15 will see the return of lootboxes, and I'm actually more mixed than upset by the announcement. The announcement came with the explanation that, in addition to some better chance percentages of getting higher-value items, there is a guarantee that a Rare or better item will drop in every single box, and that an Epic item will be within five consecutive boxes and Legendary within 20 consecutive, which is certainly a far better incentive than they were in the past.

With contentious toxicity and some community frustrations with other hero shooters, including Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2 has been slowly getting better and better. The competition that sparked with Rivals' massive release seems to have allowed for more innovation within Overwatch 2. All of these factors have slowly grown to allow Overwatch 2 to take bolder steps toward enticing players back.

Some other big changes Overwatch 2 has seen include the return of the classic 6v6 mode from the first Overwatch, several new modes that break traditional gameplay "rules," and multiple quality of life adjustments to make matches feel better.

The Street Fighter 6 event is another example of Overwatch 2's developers listening closely to community . Taking experience from lackluster crossovers of the past, this Street Fighter event is set to be the biggest yet. With balance adjustments and frequent changes based on constructive criticism, there are multiple positives from reing back into Overwatch, whose traditionally problematic playerbase has reduced greatly.

When combining all of these factors together, there's never been a better time to hop onto the hero shooter that once took the world by storm. While the well-informed content changes will bring back old players, the Street Fighter 6 collab event will leave me obssessed to play until I unlock everything that Overwatch 2 offers through the crossover.
