What This Means For Only Murders In The Building
Christoph Waltz Is A Major Get For The Show
Christoph Waltz ing the Only Murders in the Building cast is a major coup for the Hulu series. The well-respected Austrian and German actor has only appeared on television twice since 2008, in the British comedy Staged and the Prime Video drama The Consultant. Best known for his movie roles, Waltz is a two-time Oscar winner, having won both times he was nominated, for his performances in 2009's Inglourious Basterds and 2012's Django Unchained. He has also portrayed iconic James Bond villain Blofeld in the Daniel Craig era of the franchise.
Both Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained were directed by Quentin Tarantino.
While he has only infrequently starred in comedies, Waltz has dabbled in quite a few different genres over the years. This includes bringing the manga character Dr. Ido to life in Robert Rodriguez's futuristic 2019 sci-fi movie Alita: Battle Angel, playing real-life military official Léon Rom in the 2016 adventure movie The Legend of Tarzan, and starring in the 2023 fantasy movie The Portable Door opposite a star-studded cast that includes future Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson, Talk to Me's Sophie Wilde, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Damon Harriman, and Jurassic Park's Sam Neill.
Christoph Waltz s A Star-Studded Cast
Only Murders In The Building Is Known For A-List Cameos
Waltz's presence proves that the hit series continues to be a draw for A-list stars. In fact, he is not the only Oscar winner to have appeared in the series, as three-time winner and 21-time nominee Meryl Streep has played recurring character Loretta Durkin in the series since Only Murders in the Building season 3. Other major stars who have appeared in the show in various capacities include Paul Rudd, Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Molly Shannon, Jane Lynch, Tina Fey, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Nathan Lane, Andrea Martin, Kumail Nanjiani, Sting, Amy Schumer, and Melissa McCarthy.
Only Murders in the Building [became] the fifth most-watched original streaming show of 2023...
The show's immense popularity on Hulu could be one reason that it has become such a draw for well-known talent. In addition to becoming the streaming platform's best comedy debut ever when it launched in 2021, Only Murders in the Building has continued to thrive, becoming the fifth most-watched original streaming show of 2023 across all platforms and winning a total of seven Emmy awards at the time of writing.
Only Murders in the Building has been nominated for a total of 49 Emmys.
The A-list talent at the center of the series is also most likely a draw for other major stars. The series regulars themselves are major stars. Both Martin Short and Steve Martin are Emmy winners with long careers in comedy under their belts. Additionally, while Selena Gomez is an actor known for roles in prominent titles such as Wizards of Waverly Place and Emilia Pérez (in which she performed the Oscar-nominated song "Mi Camino"), she is a major pop star who is the most-followed woman on Instagram.
Our Take On Christoph Waltz ing Only Murders In The Building
He Could Be A Good Fit For The Show
While Christoph Waltz is best known for his dramatic roles, Only Murders in the Building will offer him a new opportunity to show off the chops that he has previously displayed during his rare roles in comedy movies such as Horrible Bosses 2 and Old Guy. His characteristic intensity could service the whodunit series well, as he will most likely play a suspect in the murder of Lester the doorman (Teddy Coluca), so an unpredictable and fiery character might be exactly who he is asked to bring to life.

Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Ending & The Identity Of Sazz's Killer Explained
Only Murders in the Building season 4 came to a close with many reveals, from who killed Sazz to the next victim of the titular Arconia.
It is also possible that Waltz will be asked to play himself in Only Murders in the Building. While some of the A-list stars that have ed the series play original characters (such as Loretta Durkin or Paul Rudd's Ben Glenroy), the apartment building at the center of the series is a draw for fictionalized versions of real-life celebrities. Notable figures who have portrayed themselves in the series include Sting, Amy Schumer, Matthew Broderick, and Scott Bakula, with some of them even playing suspects in various murders.
