Roger, the intrigue surrounding the One Piece has continued to deepen over the course of the series and now Vegapunk's broadcast has implied it may even have the power to change the world.

Chapter #1121 concludes Vegapunk's message as he reveals that the fate of the world depends on the one who finds the One Piece. With only one sentence, Dr. Vegapunk has significantly raised the stakes for the Final Saga, as finding the One Piece is now not only a means of achieving Luffy's dream, but also something that can determine the very fate of the world.

That said, Vegapunk's words not only raise the stakes for the Final Saga but may also be a clue to the nature of the One Piece, as the treasure now has to tick a few more boxes in addition to all the other hints provided in the series so far.

One Piece Finally Reveals The True Importance of the Final Treasure

Created by Eiichiro Oda, Chapter #1121, "The Upheaval of the Era"

While finding the One Piece has long been considered the end goal of Luffy's journey, the treasure arguably never had any significant stakes attached to it other than the title of the Pirate King, and this too, was revealed to be only a stepping stone to Luffy's real dream at the end of the Wano Arc.

However, the treasure now has much more riding on it than an empty title, as Vegapunk's words imply that the One Piece could have the power to change or destroy the world. This idea could a few theories about the One Piece being another Ancient Weapon or some device with the power to either defeat the World Government, destroy the Red Line, or maybe even revert the world back to its unflooded state from 900 years ago. This also means that the popular theory that the One Piece is sake may not be all that true as it is difficult to see how sake could decide the fate of the world.

Vegapunk's words in the latest chapter also point out that someone other than the individual Joyboy intended could end up finding the One Piece instead. This could mean that whatever the One Piece really is, using it may not necessarily depend on having the powers of the Nika Fruit. If so, it would be catastrophic if someone such as Blackbeard whose goal has been described as "the world" itself, were to find it. That said, this would not explain why Roger claimed to be too early, which means that the truth about the One Piece is still far more complex.

Vegapunk's Message Has Reignited the Race To Laugh Tale

With only one Road Poneglyph left to find, the final leg of the race to Laugh Tale was already shaping up to be quite intense, but Vegapunk's words in the chapter will likely drive even more individuals toward seeking out the titular treasure. The last couple of chapters of the Egghead Arc have made it a point to show just how many people around the world have been intently tuning in to Vegapunk's broadcast including the oldest forgotten characters in One Piece.

Much like Roger's final words, Vegapunk's message will likely drive many of these people who heard his message to the seas, possibly initiating a second surge of the Great Pirate Era. Vegapunk's message could embolden not only those seeking the treasure at Laugh Tale, but also those like Professor Clover and Robin seeking answers about the Void Century.

More importantly, the Navy may also finally the race to find the One Piece first to prevent any pirates from getting their hands on it as seen in the latest chapter. The fact that Government figures like Akainu, Imu, and even Saint Figarland Garling are featured on the final alongside the Four Emperors also hints that these individuals will likely be entering the fray in the Final Saga, likely posing great obstacles in Luffy's path. All the same, Dr. Vegapunk's message has raised the stakes for the Final Saga of One Piece impossibly high within a single sentence and it is likely that things will only get even more exciting from here on out.
