After a six-month hiatus, One Piece’s anime is finally set to return in early April. In recent years, the anime has undergone a complete overhaul to become one of the best anime a person can watch, and with the team now being given time to rest, it’s bound to look even better upon its return.

coming off its hiatus would always be exciting, and it’s especially exciting now because of where the anime left things off. The anime went on hiatus right as the Egghead arc reached a major turning point, and with how many great moments are still to come, One Piece’s return will be great because it will finally see some of the best moments of Egghead’s second half come to life. A few moments are especially worth looking forward to, and they each have the potential to make One Piece’s return some of the best anime content of the year.

10 Dorry & Brogy’s Triumphant Return

One Piece Chapters 1106-1107

Even though Luffy had returned to Gear 5 and Bonney had taken control of the Pacifistas, Egghead was still surrounded by the Marines, and to make matters worse, Saint Saturn had dealt a lethal blow to Vegapunk. Things appeared to still be looking bad for the Straw Hats, but suddenly, they received new aid with the surprise appearance of the Straw Hats’ old friends, the giant warriors Dorry and Brogy.

Dorry and Brogy reappeared earlier in the Egghead arc alongside Shanks, but their arrival on Egghead can be seen as their first proper reappearance, and overall, Dorry and Brogy appearing with a fleet of giant warriors to save Luffy was the best way to welcome them back to One Piece. Their various feats of strength against the Five Elders only further solidified that, and sure enough, the Elbaph arc is set to perfectly capitalize on that.

9 Zoro & Lucci’s Fight

One Piece Chapters 1091-1110

When York took control of the Seraphim to kill everyone on Egghead, the Straw Hats and 0 put aside their differences to work together and take York down, and after they did, Lucci was quick to go back to fighting them as the Marines prepared to invade Egghead. Most of the Straw Hats got away to help Vegapunk escape Egghead, but Zoro, meanwhile, stayed behind to hold off Lucci.

While the manga didn’t show off much of Zoro and Lucci’s fight, only occasionally cutting back to it, the anime has been known to put an incredible amount of effort into making Zoro’s fights look as great as possible in recent years, with his fights with King and S-Hawk being especially noteworthy examples. As such, Zoro’s fight with Lucci will probably be another One Piece fight filled with gorgeous animation from start to finish, and that’s plenty worth looking forward to.

8 EMET Reveals Joyboy’s True Power

One Piece Chapter 1122

As the Straw Hats attempted to escape Egghead, the Five Elders were still hot on their trail, and everyone was quickly running out of strength to deal with them. Salvation came in the form of the iron giant EMET, however, as while he was also on his last legs, he had a secret weapon to unveil: Joyboy’s Haki that he had been preserving since the Void Century.

Everything EMET did from the moment he woke up was great to see, but him using Joyboy’s Haki to take out the Five Elders was especially great not only because it worked, but because the massive display of power from Joyboy’s Haki courtesy of EMET finally gave people an idea of how strong Joyboy was meant to be. It made for a stellar climax to the arc, and it’s sure to be even better in animation.

7 Saint Saturn’s Ultimate Defeat By Luffy & Bonney

One Piece Chapter 1121

As EMET fought to hold off most of the Five Elders, Saint Saturn still found a way to break through and keep attacking everyone. Bonney, however, was finally done with Saturn after everything he put her father through, and so with Luffy’s help, she dealt Saturn a devastating blow that sent him flying off the ship and finally defeated him.

After every terrible thing Saturn put Kuma through in his flashback, much of which appeared to be out of a personal vendetta, seeing Bonney finally put an end to his villainy was one of the most cathartic moments in the entire Egghead arc. The fact that Saturn was then killed by Imu for his constant failures made it even better, and hopefully, the anime will go all-out to make the moment as great as possible.

6 Vegapunk’s Speech To The World

One Piece Chapters 1108-1122

Despite their best efforts, the Straw Hats ultimately failed to save Vegapunk, but Vegapunk was prepared for that. The second Vegapunk died, a special recording went out to transponder snails all around the world in which Vegapunk revealed the secret truths he had learned about the world while researching the Void Century, although many of his revelations just served to raise further questions.

Vegapunk’s speech becomes the main focus of Egghead’s final act, and that focus is perfectly warranted because of the multitude of major reveals and the foreshadowing of what’s to come, most notably regarding the Will of D., the history of the world, and the importance of finding the One Piece. Vegapunk’s speech was great because of how much it set the tone for One Piece’s final saga, and there’s no telling how much further the anime could take things.

5 The Five Elders Reveal Their True Forms

One Piece Chapter 1110

With the Giant Warrior Pirates providing aid to the Straw Hats, Bonney having taken control of the Pacifistas, and a mysterious message playing around the world in response to Vegapunk’s death, Saturn was left with no choice but to summon the rest of the Five Elders to Egghead. Just like Saturn, the rest of the Five Elders took on giant, monstrous forms, and they immediately used their mysterious abilities to turn things back in their favor.

Every member of the Five Elders had a transformed state that looked as monstrous as it did unique, and the fact that they were revealed in one of the first double spreads with no additional s in years highlighted that even further. It was an amazing development after they spent 20 years just sitting on the sidelines, and hopefully, the anime will do wonders to make it as big as possible.

4 Ginny’s Death

One Piece Chapter 1098

As the Revolutionary Army was just getting off the ground, Ginny was suddenly kidnapped and made into a slave of the Celestial Dragons, with no one having the time or power to save her. Two years later, Ginny was released due to contracting a terminal illness, and while Kuma couldn’t even be there to see her die, he promised to take care of her daughter, Bonney, as if she were his own.

Kuma’s backstory was one of the most tragic and heartwrenching stories in all of One Piece, and Ginny’s death was especially hard to get through for establishing just how bad people could expect his life to go. Ginny’s death in One Piece perfectly solidified the tragedy of Kuma’s life, and knowing the anime, it’s bound to give it the exact sort of visuals it needs to sell that even further.

3 The End Of Kuma’s Backstory

One Piece Chapter 1102

After Kuma’s backstory briefly went over some of the events of One Piece’s pre-timeskip era from Kuma’s perspective, it finally reached the final portion when Kuma was completely stripped of his free will. Vegapunk tearfully remarked that Kuma was a hero for everything he’d done, and before Kuma was essentially killed, he gave Vegapunk one final request: to wish Bonney a happy birthday.

The montage of Kuma with all the people who cared about him whenever he was at a low point, combined with the final scene of Bonney crying after learning the truth about everything, perfectly drove home how tragic Kuma’s story was, and overall, Kuma’s backstory made him one of the best-written characters in all of One Piece. Seeing his past come to a close was plenty heartwrenching, and ultimately, it will be even worse to see it in animation.

2 Luffy Vs. Kizaru

One Piece Chapters 1091-1094

As the Marines closed in on Egghead, Kizaru was the first one to land on the island, using his Devil Fruit powers to get around the security system and make short work of Sentomaru. Before Kizaru could kill Sentomaru, however, Luffy arrived to fight him, prompting the long-awaited rematch between them since Kizaru humiliated Luffy and his friends at Sabaody Archipelago two years prior.

Fans were anticipating a fight between Luffy and Kizaru the second it was revealed Kizaru was involved in the arc, and sure enough, Luffy and Kizaru’s fight was one of One Piece’s best fights in years for its great choreography and the ultimate catharsis of it all. Trailers for One Piece’s Egghead arc have put a lot of focus on the fight, so there’s no reason not to expect it to be a big moment.

1 Kuma Punches Saint Saturn

One Piece Chapters 1103-1104

As Saint Saturn revealed the truth of Bonney’s birth and her powers, Bonney’s resolve crumbled to the point that she was going to let Saturn kill her. Before he could do so, though, Kuma, still miraculously acting against his programming, protected Bonney from Saturn, and with a furious scowl on his face, Kuma launched a powerful punch at Saturn’s face.

One Piece needed a major palette cleanser after Kuma’s backstory, and Kuma’s big moment against Saturn was the perfect means of accomplishing that, as Kuma landing a massive punch on Saturn after everything he put him and his family through was nothing but cathartic. The extensive detail put into the art helped sell that even further, and hopefully, the One Piece anime will go as hard as possible with it to sell it as the biggest moment to look forward to with One Piece’s return.
