Warning: Spoilers for One Piece Manga #1085
powers of One Piece's strongest villains, Imu and the Five Elders. However, more eyes were watching the secret villains than they realized.
Most One Piece citizens believe their world is ruled by the World Government and the Celestial Dragons. However, that truth exploded after the Five Elders and the mysterious Imu were introduced. After seeking forbidden knowledge from the Five Elders, King Cobra of the Alabasta kingdom was brutally assaulted by Imu. The attack occurred in the Empty Throne room of the World Governments capital, a room that even the castle's guards have gone missing after seeing. A secret place that hosts the most sensitive discussions between the Five Elders and The Secret Ruler of the World Imu should have the best security available to prevent intruders or unwanted eyes from seeing inside.
Wapol Seeing 5 Elders Kill Cobra Through A Hole Feels Like Lazy Writing
Sabo snuck into Marijoa and made his way into the Imu's "Lost Chamber." This feels plausible because the Revolutionary Army's Chief-of-Staff is no stranger to infiltration spy missions offscreen and during Dressrosa. However, having King Wapol placed in a room adjacent to the secret throne room is too convenient for a series as tightly constructed as One Piece. The room seemingly hosting a small peephole that leads into the room where One Piece's biggest secrets are revealed and discussed among Imu and the Gorosei, is way too convenient. Wapol could have witnessed the incident in many more ingenious ways and even a few humorous ones.
Wapol's Luck Is More Unbelievable Than A Talking Reindeer Doctor
King Wapool was first introduced as a despicable villain who terrorized Chopper's homeland and proved to be a dangerous foe with his Munch-Munch Devil Fruit powers. Wapol's self-centered nature, insatiable hunger, and ability to consume anything with his expandable mouth can be destructive in the wrong environment. Seeing the selfish King eat part of the wall between his room and Imu's throne room due to his careless hunger would have been a more logical reason for Wapol to see the Five Elder's crime. The scene also could have provided a gag of Wapol eating the wall and then donning the extremely shocked One Piece reaction face with chunks of the wall falling out of his mouth.
One Piece's author Eiichiro Oda is one of the best in the business regarding foreshadowing, world-building, and constructing deep and intricate characters. For reasons we do not yet know, Wapol needed to be the one to see Cobra killed by Imu and the Five Elders then accidentally rescue Princess Vivi, who was also conveniently in the straight line that Wapol chose as his method of escape. Hopefully, One Piece's anime adaptation can add more context to these events because these conveniences feel too lucky, even for a series filled with super-powered pirates.
