Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece episode #1127.One Piece episode #1127 has just delivered what many are calling the anime’s best action sequences to date. The anime expanded on Zoro and Lucci’s largely unexplored fight to give them a phenomenal action sequence, and after weeks of hype, Luffy and Kizaru’s battle was pure visual spectacle from start to finish and easily the best fight scene since the anime came off its hiatus.

The fights of Gear 5 Luffy vs. Kizaru and Zoro vs. Lucci have received nothing but praise from fans and critics, and with how gorgeous each of them was, that praise is rightfully deserved. Those weren’t the only fights in episode #1127, however, and even with all the attention they’ve been getting, One Piece episode #1127’s most underrated fight deserves just as much praise as Luffy and Zoro’s fights, if not more. There’s a lot that goes into why the fight is so great, and hopefully, it will eventually go on to be regarded as one of One Piece’s best.

Why One Piece Episode 1127's Best Fight Is Its Most Underrated

One Piece's Fight Scenes Still Have The Potential To Be Great

While Luffy and Zoro were fighting Kizaru and Lucci, Bonney fought nameless Marines, but it was still a largely impressive fight. While it wasn’t as flashy as the other fights, Bonney’s fight stood out entirely thanks to its stellar choreography, with Bonney combining the creativity of her Age-Age Fruit with her surprisingly great physical abilities to take down dozens of Marines without breaking a sweat. One Piece episode #1127 casually gave Bonney one of the anime’s most creative fight scenes yet, and the fact that it wasn’t even the main draw of the episode makes that even better.

What was most shocking about Bonney’s fight was how it compared to the manga. When the corresponding manga chapter to episode #1127 cut back to Bonney, it only showed the aftermath of her fighting Marines, with no context for what happened, so Bonney’s fight in One Piece episode #1127 became incredibly special because it was a completely original sequence as opposed to the manga giving her nothing to work with. Recent years have seen One Piece’s handling of filler content become greater than ever, and Bonney’s new fight is the best example yet.

One Piece's Bonney Fight Fixes A Major Criticism Of The Anime

Another major reason why Bonney’s fight stood out was that it fixed a major drawback of the anime. As great as One Piece’s animation has gotten in recent years, a common criticism people have had about One Piece’s animation in recent years is that it focuses too much on flashy effects and making things look as chaotic as possible, which often makes fight scenes hard to follow. Even Luffy and Kizaru’s fight has drawn criticism for those same reasons, and while some of those points are greatly exaggerated, it’s easy to see where people are coming from with them.

All of that, of course, is why Bonney’s fight scene was so good. Not only was the choreography and overall animation great to watch, but it did it without all the flashy spectacle people have criticized the anime for as of late. That doesn’t make it better than those types of fights, but the point is that Bonney’s fight scene in One Piece episode #1127 is proof that the anime can look good without going too far into flashy gimmicks, and hopefully, there will be more fight scenes like hers later down the line.

One Piece's Best New Fight Finally Gives Bonney The Respect She Deserves

One Piece's Anime Gave Bonney Her Best Showing, By Far

The first tease of Bonney and Saturn's conflict

Above all else, the biggest reason why Bonney’s fight was so good was due to how much respect it gave her character. Bonney was never given too many opportunities to fight in the manga, but by expanding on Bonney’s fight with the Marines, One Piece’s anime gave Bonney her best scene of all time by showing off her incredible physical prowess and creative handling of her Devil Fruit. Even the manga never showed off her power like that, so it made for another example of how great One Piece’s filler content can be.

Egghead’s final act puts even more focus on Bonney’s character with her continually ending up at the center of the action, and while much of that was owed both to her Devil Fruit and to her being Kuma’s daughter, Bonney’s spectacular showcase in One Piece episode #1127 shows that she always had the level of competence to justify Bonney’s role in the Egghead arc’s final act. Whether that was intentional is unknown, but regardless, it’s another reason why Bonney’s fight was so great, and hopefully, it will get the recognition it deserves in One Piece and then some.
