Al Pacino has become the latest heavy hitter to writer-director Quentin Tarantino's true-life infused crime drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Pacino, without question, is one of Hollywood's most enduring stars, having risen to prominence in the 1970s in his iconic role as mob family member Michael Corleone in director Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather. He's been busy on the big screen ever since, starring in such film classics as Serpico, The Godfather Part II, Scarface, and Heat, and earned a Best Actor Oscar for his role in Scent of a Woman in 1993.

And while Pacino has won the most acclaim for his work on the small screen in recent years in such television films as You Don't Know Jack, Phil Spector and the new true-life drama Paterno, he's still very much in demand for feature films, including the latest star-studded production from Tarantino.

According to Leonardo DiCaprio). Dalton, along with his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), are both fictitious characters in the film, and Dalton is being positioned as Tate's next-door neighbor before her murder.

The addition of Al Pacino to the film is the second major casting move for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this week. It was recently announced that that such actors as Damien Lewis, Dakota Fanning, and Emile Hirsch were ing the film to play Steve McQueen, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme (a member of the Manson family), and Jay Sebring (a hairstylist who was murdered along with Tate), respectively. The cast for the film also includes Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Luke Perry, Clifton Collins Jr., Keith Jefferson, and Nicholas Hammond.

Fans of both Pacino and Tarantino will no doubt be excited by this latest casting news, since Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will mark the first time the two cinematic powerhouses have worked together. Tarantino previously worked with Pacino's contemporary, Robert DeNiro, in the 1997 crime drama Jackie Brown. Pacino and DeNiro, coincidentally, will team up once again next year in director Martin Scorsese's mob epic The Irishman. Tarantino, meanwhile, will release Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in August 9, 2019 - the 50th anniversary of Sharon Tate's murder.
