A remaster of prevalent for months.
The Oblivion remaster is reportedly shadow-dropping sometime during the week of April 21, according to journalist Jeff Grubb on the GameBreaking News show on the Giant Bomb YouTube channel. Alleged leaked images of the game have also appeared over on Reddit in a post from LiquidBurnss. Additionally, it appears the game will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S (as a day one Game title), and Steam, according to a possible leak shared by Reddit KvasirTheOld. An index detailing the code for the game's trailer has also allegedly been leaked.
Everything We Know About The Oblivion Remaster
A Remaster Of A Revolutionary Game
The remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion is allegedly in development at Virtuos Games and will reportedly run on Unreal Engine 5. The new leaked images are from Virtuos' website. One image shows the title The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, potentially underselling its status as a remake in a new engine. There are purportedly some major changes to the game's combat and stealth mechanics, as well, with some inspiration from the Dark Souls games.

If The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remake Is Real, It Needs To Avoid Ruining The Original's Best Feature
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake needs to keep the original’s best feature to avoid ruining the reason it was so good in the first place.
The supposed leaked images have now been removed from Virtuos' website, although some can still be viewed in the Reddit post that shared the news. Notably, there is no Nintendo branding in the leaked source code index for the supposed reveal trailer, so it does not appear the remaster will come over to Switch, at least not at launch.
Our Take: This Leak Looks Legit
It Might Be A Nice Surprise For April
Since the leaked images have been traced back to Virtuos' own website and were quickly taken down, it does seem like these new leaks are legit, further ed by the reputation of journalist Jeff Grubb. The main question at the moment is what day the Oblivion remaster will be released the week of April 21, or if the date is pushed a bit further until the last week of April instead. Of course, nothing has been confirmed, so there is still a chance the remake won't actually arrive this month.
The modding community for The Elder Scrolls has been nearing completion on a fan-made Oblivion remake, but it looks like the official remaster will be released much sooner than many expected. We should know if these leaks are fully true within the next two weeks, so April may be an exciting time for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion fans.
