Marvel Studios takes a significant step forward in the Marvel Studios' Nova series, which will arrive sooner rather than later.
As reported by Deadline, Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero s Marvel Studios' Nova series as head writer, replacing Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada. Nova is yet to receive a tentative release date, lead actor, and synopsis. However, the series is unlikely to be released before Phase 7, as Marvel Studios's main focus will likely be centered on Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026 and 2027.
What The MCU Nova Show Update Means
Marvel Studios Has Faith On Nova As A Protagonist
Marvel Studios confirmed it was lowering its output in 2024, reducing the number of yearly releases in order to ensure each project is as high-quality as possible before moving on to the next. Some MCU projects in early development may have been delayed or even canceled behind the scenes, but Marvel still decided to move forward with movies such as Blade and shows such as Wonder Man and Nova. While Nova's Richard Rider won't make his debut as soon as Marvel originally planned, he will certainly become an important MCU figure in a few years' time.

The MCU Has Never Been Closer To Solving A 10 Year Old Guardians Of The Galaxy Mystery
An unexpected new Marvel project sets the MCU up for a perfect explanation for one of their universe’s longest-running and strangest mysteries.
Nova will likely be a key part of the MCU following the original Guardians of the Galaxy's exit in Phase 5. Although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's ending introduced a new iteration of the team, the MCU might shift its focus to other cosmic characters in the future. Richard Rider and his successor, Sam Alexander, could be the MCU's next cosmic stars, and they could team up with other extraterrestrial heroes such as Silver Surfer, Starforx, the Eternals, and of course, Rocket Raccoon's new MCU Guardians team — not to mention Nova's battles against cosmic threats like Annihilus, Korvac, and Adam Warlock's evil alter ego Magus.
Our Take On The MCU Nova Show Update
The MCU Nova Series' Showrunner Update Might Provide A Hint To The Show's Plot
Ed Bernero is known for his work as showrunner in Criminal Minds and its spinoff Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, of which Bernero was co-creator and executive producer. Before Criminal Minds, Ed Bernero also wrote, produced, and directed other TV shows such as NYPD Blue, Brooklyn South, Third Watch, and Crossing Lines, among other shows centered around the police force. Ed Bernero's work on police procedural shows suggests that the MCU's Nova series will have a heavy focus on the Nova Corps and Richard Rider's status as the Corps' best agent.
