The Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will introduce several upgrades to the game, but one of the best may be locked behind the Zelda Notes app. Despite the excitement for Nintendo's next console, many players have questioned the company's strategy of "upgrading" older games to take advantage of the Switch 2's extra power. Some of the improvements made to Breath of the Wild may result in a smoother experience, but the fact that they're locked behind an external mobile app seems like an unnecessary hurdle.

Per VGC, YouTuber Zeltik noted in a recent hands-on with the game that the Zelda Notes app hands out random daily bonuses, one of which is "equipment repairs." It appears that additional items are randomly distributed every day, so there's only a chance players could land on the item that presumably allows them to fix a weapon that's on the verge of shattering. Given how frustrating this mechanic can be, fans have questioned why the item is both restricted to the Zelda Notes app and reduced to a random drop that requires s to simply be lucky.

Weapon Repairs Should Be A Normal, But Rare, Item

Making It Accessible Through Zelda Notes Is Annoying

Breath of the Wild is still widely regarded as one of the introduction of a repair item exciting. Having said that, it stands to reason that such a drop would be rather rare, given that one of the core themes of Breath of the Wild is making do with what can be found just lying around Hyrule.

It's a solid idea to improve the game, but locking a repair item within Zelda Notes is a baffling choice. In fairness, it could be the case that's also discoverable in-game, but since Nintendo is clearly pushing the app as the best way to enjoy Breath of the Wild on Switch 2, it's difficult to say for sure how the drops will be distributed. One should hope that weapon repairs can be gained after particularly challenging fights to at least justify all the effort players put into bringing down some of the game's tougher opponents.

Weapon Degradation Is Always Annoying

Even In Breath of the Wild

I enjoy many things about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Its aesthetic and soundtrack are some of the franchise's best. Having said that, I can't emphasize enough how much I loath weapon degradation; While I understand its existence in the game, I believe it actively when it becomes a chore I'm forced to complete repeatedly, it's more of a frustration than anything else.
