A new edition of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released in 2017 as one of the Nintendo Switch launch titles, and is widely regarded as one of the best first-party exclusives the Switch has to offer. BOTW was followed up with two DLC packs which will be bundled with the game for the new edition.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is known for its expansive open-world, filled with quests, secrets, and collectibles for players to discover. Once the main game is complete, there's still plenty of fun to be had across Hyrule and beyond, and this is especially true for those who purchase the game's DLC. The two Breath of the Wild DLC packs introduce new content such as The Trial of the Sword, Master Mode, and new armor.

Lots of games were announced during the September Nintendo Direct, but Japan was treated to additional reveals with definitive versions of both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 (via ZeldaDungeon). Each of the games includes a physical game cartridge, as well as DLC. This is the first time Breath of the Wild has been available with its DLC included, though buyers will find the two DLC packs are digital codes, rather than being on the cartridge. Breath of the Wild's new edition will be available in Japan from October 8, priced at ¥8,980 yen (approximately $81.33 USD).

The new edition of Breath of the Wild will likely be a must-own for Zelda collectors, but unfortunately, Nintendo hasn't revealed whether or not the game will ever be available outside of Japan. It's possible that, if the edition sees a prominent number of sales, the company will consider releasing it globally, but for now it seems that the Breath of the Wild physical game and DLC bundle is exclusive to Japan, as is the new edition of Splatoon 2.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, and Nintendo has been spacing out Zelda-related announcements and releases throughout the year. Earlier this summer, fans finally got a fresh look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, along with a release window of 2022. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword came to Nintendo Switch with an HD remake in July, and the Nintendo Direct announced that Nintendo 64 classics like Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be coming to the Switch Online service beginning October. Fans are still holding out hope for Switch releases for The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, among other Zelda classics.
