Carnage may be helping Eddie Brock take down serial killers due to his own history with them, but he isn't planning on taking a heroic turn any time soon. Instead, he's temporarily allied himself with Eddie in hopes of finding a better host among the killers they pursue. His options include the Silver Surfer, Bullseye, Galactus, Foolkiller, Hela, Daredevil, Bushwacker, Jean Grey, and even Venom. Carnage's selected targets highlight his desire for someone who is willing to veer further into darkness than Eddie would at present, even if they aren't all outright villains.

What sticks out about Carnage's selections is that many would let him transcend to greater heights, thus enhancing his threat level far beyond what Eddie Brock could offer him. Jean Grey, for instance, would endanger the entire universe if she were to host a symbiote like Carnage in addition to the Foolkiller could become deadlier than ever before with Carnage enabling his worst impulses. It may seem unlikely that Carnage could bond with some of these characters, but believe it or not, many have already bonded with symbiotes in the past.

The most well-known symbiote hosts tend to be ordinary human beings such as Eddie Brock or Cletus Kasady. With that being said, Carnage has had more luck with possessing these powerful characters than one might initially presume. Carnage, for instance, has actually ed forces with the Silver Surfer in Amazing Spider-Man #430 by Tom DeFalco and Joe Bennett, seizing control of Galactus' iconic herald to become "Carnage Cosmic". Of course, Carnage fails to fully convert Norrin Radd to his wicked ways as the Silver Surfer's comion overpowers his cruelty, but he's nonetheless proven he has a shot with one of his choices.

Carnage has set his sights on Marvel's most formidable killers, but bonding with them is easier said than done, even for a symbiote as dangerous as he is. While Hela or Galactus. An added wrinkle in Carnage's plan is that he and Eddie aren't exactly a well-oiled machine, and their inability to see eye-to-eye could weaken them in the face of opponents with full control over themselves. Carnage's potential new hosts are promising, though it remains to be seen whether he'll successfully bond with any of them.
