Warning: Spoilers for Eddie Brock: Carnage #1Eddie Brock has been a hero, a villain, Carnage. While Eddie is no stranger to using lethal force, he's tried his best to leave that part behind him. Now, bonded to a new murderous symbiote, Eddie will have to indulge his worst impulses to keep the Carnage symbiote in check, as he becomes a killer of killers.
Eddie has been the host to Venom for decades, but that will be changing soon as Eddie bonds with the Carnage symbiote in the Eddie Brock: Carnage by Charles Soule and Jesus Saiz. In a statement to Marvel.com, Soule comments that "in order for Eddie to be okay with [killing for Carnage], the people he feeds Carnage are serial killers. But Carnage is also an addict, and addicts need bigger and bigger highs…"
Readers get their first look at the issue where Eddie appears to be on a plane when the engers are pacified by a mysterious symbiote. Unaffected by this, Eddie makes his way to the cockpit, where he witnesses a true horror scene.
Marvel's New Carnage Promises to Become a Different Kind of Hero as a Killer of Killers
Still, the Carnage Symbiote Is Marvel's Worst Serial Killer
In the cockpit, Eddie witnesses the Carnage symbiote massacring the two pilots. After that, he wakes up back home. It's unclear exactly how the two bonded, but now that they are, the two have to lay some ground rules to co-exist. Eddie has been trying his best to be a hero these past few years, but the Carnage symbiote demands sacrifices, and Eddie will have to indulge it. Thankfully, he has a plan to only allow the Carnage symbiote to kill serial killers.
Eddie is going to have to allow Carnage to kill, but only time will tell if Carnage can be satisfied with serial killers forever.
Eddie Brock used to kill people with little issue. After all, Venom was known as the Lethal Protector. He was also originally a Spider-Man villain. While Venom never intended to kill innocent people, there's no denying that it still happened now and then. Eddie has worked for years to put that part of his life behind him and become a better person. Unfortunately, bonding with Carnage is going to make being a better person nearly impossible. Eddie is going to have to allow Carnage to kill, but only time will tell if Carnage can be satisfied with serial killers forever.
Carnage Might Turn Eddie Brock Into a Killer Again
Eddie's Progress as a Hero Could Be Completely Reversed
Marvel has plenty of serial killers, but none of them are as prolific as the Carnage symbiote. Carnage enjoys killing so much that he once evolved past the desire to just kill humans. There was a time when Carnage tried to become a God-Butcher, someone who hunted down and slaughtered the gods themselves. It'll be very hard to go from killing gods to killing random serial killers off the street. As Soule says, like any addict, Carnage will eventually want bigger and more important kills.

Carnage’s Newest Ability is His Most Gruesome and Terrifying Yet
Carnage’s new ability is grotesque, horrifying, and stomach-churning, showing off his disturbing creativity, as Marvel's strongest sickest killer.
Eddie Brock is going to have to do everything in his power to keep Carnage satisfied. Since separating himself from Carnage doesn't seem to be an option, Eddie will have to hope that he can continually find people who deserve to die. While the villain community has always feared the Punisher, and to an extent Venom, they'll now have an even more terrifying enemy to look out for. Bonded to the Carnage symbiote, Eddie Brock is going to become a bigger threat to villains everywhere than he ever was as Venom.

- HISTORY
- The Venom symbiote is an alien organism that first bonded with Peter Parker (Spider-Man) during the "Secret Wars" storyline. After Parker rejected the symbiote, it found a new host in Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist. The symbiote and Brock bonded over their mutual hatred for Spider-Man, becoming the anti-hero known as Venom. Over time, Venom has evolved from a villain to an anti-hero, often fighting alongside other heroes to protect innocents, though his methods remain brutal.
