A new anime could have been greenlit for production. Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! or Even The Student Council Has Holes! was recently announced to receive an anime adaptation, though no date on when it will premiere has been confirmed. It’ll be animated by the studio, ione, produced by Aniplex, and directed by Naoyuki Tatsuwa.

Even The Student Council Has Holes! is best described as a lewd comedy that follows the misadventures of a group of high school teenagers as they manage their duties in the student council and get in their fair share of mischief. The story closely follows Ume Minezoe, who, while intelligent in literature and humanities, needs to make up extra credits to ensure he doesn’t retake a year due to his poor grades in science. His home room teacher suggests he assist the student council to make up for his credentials, and the pandemonium ensues from there.

Even The Student Council Has Holes! Can Be A Tad Inappropriate

Audience Are Already Picking Up On The Anime’s Questionable Takes

Given the nature of its jokes, Even The Student Council Has Holes! can come off as a bit much for the average consumer since the characters all have their own quirks that point to some sort of deviancy. Most notoriously is Tan Otori, who is actually a male, but he often exposes himself for the sake of embarrassing fellow students and blackmailing them into giving him money after he’s caught them staring at his chest. Another may be Komaro Michinoku, a first-year student with a tiny deposition and bountiful chest, making people question whether this is bait of some kind.

However, all of this points to the satirical comedy of Even The Student Council Has Holes! where Otori is criticized and punished for his manipulative tactics, and Noku is treated like the baby sister of the group, often seated in everyone’s lap (though this could be for protection sake since she’s notoriously accident-prone). It’s even stated in the manga that Otori is only able to get away with showing off because he’s a male in a shōnen, breaking the fourth wall of the narrative.

Later in the same chapter, the manga jokes about how he eventually becomes censored because of how catastrophic a hit Terri delivered to put him back in his place, hinting that he became a woman for that short amount of time.

The Anime’s Humor is Crude But Hilarious and Not Meant to be Taken Seriously

Even The Student Council Has Holes! Was Bound To Stir Trouble

The manga delivers the story in a mix of four- comics and traditional manga when carrying out larger arcs within the chapter, all showcasing some sort of dumb antics the student council gets involved in. Even The Student Council Has Holes! pokes fun at a lot of different anime tropes, and while there are some aspects of fan service, it’s been fairly harmless thanks to the straight-laced Ume handling the chaos that enfolds each chapter, serving as the audience's crutch as the only normal student in the group.
