This weekend, coronavirus pandemic are finally being released. Still, many studios continue to choose to release their titles on streaming platforms (either exclusively or simultaneously), and in Netflix’s case, in addition to housing some of those movies, it continues to add new content every week.
Last weekend, the streaming giant added the fantasy movie Vampire Academy, the horror movies A Haunted House 2 and The Devil Below, and the documentary Picture a Scientist, along with part 2 of Silver Linings Playbook.
As for original content, the platform will welcome the second season of a horror-drama TV series about the zombie apocalypse, season 4 of one of Spain’s most successful TV series, and a comedy-drama movie starring Kevin Hart. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - June 18.
Black Summer – season 2
Black Summer is a horror-drama TV series that debuted on Netflix in 2019 and is now back with its second season. Set six weeks after the start of the zombie apocalypse, Rose (Jaime King) is separated from her daughter, Anna, and she embarks on a harrowing journey to find her. Alongside a small group of refugees in North America, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.
Elite – season 4
Season 4 of Elite is now available to stream on Netflix this weekend, as well as a series of short stories to prepare viewers for what’s to come in Las Encinas. Season 4 will welcome a new generation of students but also those who were still there by the end of season 3: Guzmán, Samuel, Rebeca, Cayetana, Ander, and Omar. In preparation for the new season and to offer some closure to some of last season’s romances, Netflix released a miniseries of short films set between seasons and starring Guzmán, Nadia, Ander, Omar, Alexis, Cayetana, Rebeca, Samuel, and Carla.
Fatherhood
Netflix's Fatherhood is a comedy-drama movie directed by Paul Weitz and based on the 2011 memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin. It follows Matthew (played by Kevin Hart), who brings up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife, Liz (Deborah Ayorinde), just one day after their daughter’s birth. Also starring are Melody Hurd, Alfre Woodward, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, and Paul Reiser.
