Filming an initial audition via iPhone is not typically the way actors and actresses go about things when getting cast for new movies and TV roles but it worked out in this instance.

Once the show was picked up by Netflix, executives decided to title each episode of the show with book titles from the series. The Baby-Sitters Club is jam-packed with lots of complex relationships between the different fictional characters. During her interview with Good Housekeeping, Alicia Silverstone said, "It was just so sweet and lovely and made me smile and feel good. I think what turned me onto the script was that it included a complicated relationship between Kristy and Elizabeth. [My character]'s got four kids, a lot on her plate, and not a lot of money. She's just trying to survive." In real life, moms who have a lot of kids work very hard to take care of their families and Silverstone obviously related to that.
