What This Means For Netflix
2025 Could Be One Of Their Biggest Years Yet
This release slate for Netflix shows reveals just how many of the streamer's flagship series are returning to the screen in 2025. This includes multiple seasons that are follow-ups to the platform's most-watched series of all time. Stranger Things season 5, for instance, comes three years after season 4, which is their No. 2 most watched English-language season of all time. Additionally, Squid Game season 3 follows their first and second most-watched non-English seasons of all time, while Wednesday season 2 follows their No. 1 English season.
Squid Game season 1 is Netflix's most-watched season across all languages, with 265.2 million viewers accumulating 1.719 billion viewing hours.
DAHMER: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which is season 1 of the Ryan Murphy true crime drama series, is likewise their No. 3 most-watched English-language season, meaning that 2025 features new installments of five of Netflix's top-rated series. For a year that has already included The Night Agent season 2, which follows their No. 7 English-language season of all time, this is a tremendous amount of output that could result in multiple 2025 seasons landing on the Top 10 charts.
Our Take On Netflix's Release Slate
Even More Huge Series Are Coming
While Cobra Kai, The Witcher, Big Mouth, Love is Blind, You, and Black Mirror are not part of the Netflix English-language Top 10, they are similarly popular tentpole shows that have performed well over the years. While it remains to be seen if the streaming service reaches an all-time viewership high by the end of the year, that record seems entirely within the realm of possibility considering how many shows are returning and debuting on this schedule, which does not even include every series that will be released in the second half of 2025.
