In Naruto, jutsu is the lifeblood of the ninja. While there are some jutsu that all ninjas must be competent in, what separates the mediocre from the good, and the good from the best are the unique, top-level jutsu. In the space between general and overpowered jutsu, however, is Onnanoko Tachi, a one-of-a-kind stealth jutsu that might be effective in the right hands, in the right situation but has the potential to go laughingly wrong when used as a gag by teenagers.

Onnanoko Tachi was created by Konohamaru Sarutobi but not as a technique to help him in battle. Rather he made it as a way to one-up his frenemy Naruto. Several years younger, and much less experienced, Naruto notices this and responds with pranks against Konohamaru. Their mutual efforts to one-up each other leads to some of the manga’s most humorous moments, including the creation and use of Onnanoko Tachi. The technique is Konohamaru’s attempt to create a jutsu more over-powering than Naruto’s sexy technique. It combines his ability to clone himself with his ability to transform into someone else.

The jutsu is taken to new heights in chapter 347 of Naruto. After performing the jutsu on Naruto in front of Sakura, to hilarious effect, Sakura is quick to label Konohamaru and Naruto perverts. Seeing an opportunity, Konohamaru readjusts the jutsu to transform into an image of Sasuke and Sai getting intimate. Sakura immediately forgets what she was saying and becomes obsessed with the scene before her. She stays transfixed until Sai, emotionless as ever, realizes that it's an image of him and Sasuke. Shocked back into reality, Sakura tries to act as though the image didn't impact her, though her stunned daze tells an entirely different story.

Naruto Sasuke and Sai Reaction

Despite the comedy of the scene, it should also be seen as Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto's attempt to provide some cute fan service for Sasuke's many fans. Indeed, the scene gives that significant portion of the Naruto fan base in love Sasuke’s boy band good looks, cool demeanor, and bad boy image, a nice helping of exactly what they want. While most fan services in manga focuses on the male audience, this scene is a tip of the hat to Naruto’s female audience.

One of the most enjoyable elements of the Naruto saga is the diverse set of interpersonal relationships that developed between Naruto and other characters. There are serious relationships, and complex relationships such as the one between Naruto, Sasuke, and Sarada, but this scene examines the humorous, and off-beat relationships that existed between Naruto and his fanboy Kanohamaru Sarutobi.
