New gameplay shows My Hero Academia's free-to-play battle royale in action, and fans can now sign up to try the My Hero Ultra Rumble is the latest MHA game announced, revealed for last-gen and current-generation consoles back in January. Still, it's not the first game to center on the superhero manga from Kōhei Horikoshi.

The fascinating world and massive cast of My Hero Academia makes it an ideal setting for a video game. Parts of the series' story have been told in the My Hero One's Justice titles. Those games also feature multiplayer battles where fans could play as their favorite characters against one another in a 3D arena fighting game. With each character in the series having their own unique Quirk, special abilities and attacks are incredibly varied across the many playable characters. Mobile games have also allowed the My Hero Academia franchise to impress fans worldwide with the combat found in My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero. The next My Hero Academia game, however, is set to be a brand new take on the genre.

Fans excited for more MHA are eagerly awaiting the anime's sixth season, which is expected to release in the Fall of 2022. It would be an excellent time for the game to release around the timeframe when hype levels for the story are at their maximum. With the My Hero Academia manga currently in its final arc, and the next anime season covering one of the best parts of the series, the time would be ideal for a My Hero Academia tie-in video game to release.

Colorful costumes and big battles are a good fit for a My Hero Academia battle royale game. Developers should have lots of customizable costumes and abilities to pull from the series to help the free-to-play multiplayer game feel fun and exciting for fans. Now that fans have a better idea of how the game will play, they can start thinking about which heroes or villains they want to main and build the perfect My Hero Ultra Rumble three-man teams. Those strategies can be tested in the closed beta on PS4 before the game releases, hopefully by the end of 2022.
