My Hero Academia is finally going to explain just what Deku's new power suit can do, and fans are champing at the bit to get the details. But could this new information actually be a sign that a new, post-series movie is coming?
My Hero Academia is about to release its final databook, the "Ultra Age" book, on May 2, 2025, in Japan, which includes information on a huge number of characters in the series. However, the most exciting piece of information is that the "Ultra Age" book will reveal the capabilities of the power suit that Deku received from All Might, finally giving a clue as to just what he's able to do by the end of the series. The fact that this information is being carefully collected at all, however, has led some fans to speculate that a post-series My Hero Academia movie may be in the works.
My Hero Academia Reveals Deku's Suit's Abilities
Deku Can Once Again Fight Crime Like His Classmates
Deku received his power suit after several years of research and development conducted without his knowledge, implying that it's the very top of the line and is packed with tools. The cover of "Ultra Age" depicts Deku in the suit quite clearly, and some of the tools and abilities of the suit can be seen. For example, Deku's suit is definitely still capable of his old Air Force technique, as that element from his old gauntlets has been built into the suit. Other features seem designed to emulate the Quirks he once had, such as Blackwhip, allowing him to swing around or snag bad guys.
This focus on what Deku is capable of after the series ends has some fans speculating that once season 8 is done, the anime may well go directly into a new movie, this time focusing on the cast as adults as they deal with one more problem. This approach has been done before, most famously by Naruto, which had two post-series movies, Naruto: The Last and Boruto: Naruto the Movie. My Hero Academia's situation is certainly comparable, and there's no reason that a post-series movie couldn't be written. The franchise is certainly valuable enough to be worth keeping around.
How Likely is a My Hero Academia Epilogue Movie?
Such a Film Would Be Wildly Successful, But Is Horikoshi Up For It?
The one factor which makes a My Hero Academia epilogue movie less likely is that it would require extensive involvement from Kohei Horikoshi, the series' creator. The aforementioned Naruto movies closely involved Kishimoto, after all, and likely wouldn't have been well-received if they didn't. Horikoshi seems to be enjoying his time off since the end of the manga, so it's not clear if he would be interested in helping with a movie at this time. It could always happen further down the line, however; look at the gap between Dragon Ball Z and Battle of Gods, for example. A My Hero Academia movie starring adult versions of the cast would do fantastic, so it may only be a matter of time.
