Disney is ready to start production on another live-action remake as Mulan is finally set to start filming later this month. The movie has gained a lot of attention throughout the past few months, but it looks like Disney is finally ready to begin production on it. There were just some final preparations that needed to be made before filming could actually begin including finding a costume designer and stunt coordinator, just to name a few.

The original animated Mulan is about a girl who is coming of age in China, but chooses to put that all aside to take her father's place as a warrior after he is called to duty. It's a film that is seen as being a game-changer for Disney princesses as Mulan was one of the first of its kind to break boundaries and change up the regular fairy tale story. The new live-action film stars Yifei Liu as Mulan and was supposed to start filming earlier last year, however it was delayed due to other Disney projects.

music will be incorporated in some way potentially. The film is set to hit theaters in 2019.

Disney is known for being a leader in the industry when it comes to will be portrayed by actors who are Chinese.

With Mulan, Disney has the opportunity to do something great by producing a major studio film revolving around Asian characters. Many viewers feel Asians are underrepresented in Hollywood (especially in leading roles), so this movie could mark serious changes to established industry tropes. The studio will be able to help open some doors, and it will be a disappointment if they don't follow through. This could be one of the reasons why there was a delay in the production; Disney understands how important Mulan is and wanted to take their time to do the material right.

Although, the delays in production could have to deal with much more than simply doing the film justice. Disney has a lot on their plate right now, from buying Fox, to all the other live-action films that are currently in production. The company is super busy. Hopefully, Mulan won't suffer and the film is completed without any problems.
