All of the details you need to properly acquire Magic: The Gathering's Duskmourn expansion are now available, with the newest set following the trends of past modern releases in offering multiple products. Duskmourn is another innovative spin on a MTG expansion. The setting, the titular Duskmourn, is a plane that is entirely consumed by one very haunted house. As the heroes of the story get drawn into its conspiracies and grim plans, they come face to face with a demonic entity that could consume the entire Multiverse if left unchecked.
Duskmourn will have big shoes to fill in of recent releases, as the newest Standard set, Bloomburrow, was a huge success and tapped into some underused potential in high fantasy by anthropomorphizing popular characters and placing them in a Redwall-esque setting. That set was itself a difficult follow-up to Modern Horizons 3, the straight-to-Modern expansion that dramatically altered that format's metagame and spawned multiple new strategies.

Fallout's Magic: The Gathering Crossover Is A Landmark Video Game Moment For The TCG
Magic: The Gathering's Fallout set introduces video games to the world of MTG. What does it mean for the game? We chat with Annie Sardelis to discuss.
As far as environments go, Duskmourn is most closely similar to Innistrad, but their horror inspirations are wildly different; while Innistrad leans into the Gothic, Duskmourn embraces 80s scares mixed with some truly gruesome art to create something distinct and memorable. With spoilers available and preorder information online, it's only a matter of time before Duskmourn arrives on tabletops everywhere. Here's everything fans need to know about MTG's newest set.

Some of the specifics of these treatments are worth noting. Double Exposure cards are based off of classic horror photography, and come in two variants, either a purple/yellow contrast or a black/red one. Paranormal frames are meant to look like glitchy, old-school, 80s horror VHS tape presentations. Mirror monsters are extended arts that appear to each have something to do with reflections of some kind; samples have shown a monster emerging from an eye, a television, and through the shard of a mirror thus far.
Lurking evil cards are alternate arts of some cards in Duskmourn that have been subtly changed to include the hint of a monster lurking somewhere in the presentation. Japan Showcase cards are what they sound like - treatments meant to highlight Japanese-style art, created by Japanese artists.
Special Guests cards are a returning feature that bring back cards from Magic's past and give them new art treatments related to the plane; in this case, Duskmourn means these cards will have a horror tinge to them. Finally, the Full-Art Manor lands are basic lands with the full art treatment, one for each basic, that show off a different location in the house of Duskmourn.

Disney Lorcana's Shimmering Skies Illumineer's Trove is good value, and its binder product is nice, too.
Duskmourn will also introduce new mechanics to MTG. Here's a brief rundown:
- Impending: an alternate casting cost for creatures that triggers their enters abilities, but doesn't actually place them on the battlefield until the indicated number of turns .
- Room cards: split cards with two different casting costs. Players choose which side of the room they're casting and pay the appropriate mana, but are then able to "unlock" the other side of the room at sorcery speed by paying its mana cost to get both benefits.
- Manifest dread: A slightly different spin on the Manifest ability, players look at the top two cards of their library, choose one to place face-down as a 2/2 creature, and place the other in the graveyard. The manifested creature can be turned face up for its mana cost as long as it is a creature card.
- Eerie: Abilities that trigger whenever an enchantment enters under your control or a room is unlocked.
- Survival: Abilities that trigger in your post-combat mainphase if the creature it is printed on is tapped.
There's also one major returning keyword that Innistrad fans in particular will love:
- Delirium: a mechanic that grants a card a more powerful effect or bonuses as long as there are four or more different card types in that player's graveyard.
