The Motorola Edge+ (2022) is the first and only flagship first smartphone with a 200MP camera in China.
Its new foldable smartphone, the Razr 2022, is also only available in China for now. On the other hand, India has gotten multiple new Moto G smartphones this year, as well as two new tablets. In the U.S, its 2022 lineup so far includes the new Motorola Edge (2022).
The Motorola Edge+ (2022) launched in Feb. 2022 but didn't go on sale until a month later for a staggering $1000 price tag, putting it in the same price bracket as other flagships such as the Galaxy S22 Plus and the Pixel 6 Pro, and even the iPhone 13 Pro. Now, Woot is offering a 50 percent discount that brings the price down to $499.99 for a limited time. At this price, it is hard not to recommend the Motorola flagship to anyone who wants a flagship phone but has a limited budget. Alongside Woot, Motorola is also running back-to-school sales on its online store, but it slashes the price by 25 percent, which brings it down to $750.
A Lot Of Value For Half The Price
At its original launch price, its review revealed it was hard to recommend the Motorola Edge+ (2022) compared to its rivals. Among its shortcomings is its camera performance which can't match the Galaxy S22 Plus or the Pixel 6 Pro. Motorola also promises just two OS upgrades and three years of security updates which is a far cry when compared to Samsung, which promises four OS upgrades and five years of security updates for the Galaxy S22 Plus and the Pixel 6 Pro's three years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
It also has a lower build quality thanks to having Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides and a low IP52 rating compared to its rivals which featured the stronger Gorilla Glass Victus(+) and higher IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating. However, s could live with those shortcomings at its current price of $499.99. For that price, buyers get a phone with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 8GB of RAM and a more-than-sufficient 512GB of storage, albeit non-expandable.
In addition, the Motorola Edge+ (2022) has a triple rear camera that includes a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide angle camera and a 2MP depth camera. It also has a 60MP front-facing camera, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and a single SIM card slot. There is a 4800mAh battery inside the phone with for 68W fast wired charging (30W charger included), 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging. The Motorola Edge+ (2022) ships with Android 12 and also has an optional stylus, just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which costs $80 and comes with a special case with a slot for the stylus.
