For decades, teen shows have shaped every generation for the better. From shows like Sex Education, there have been many fierce and headstrong female characters that fans ire. Not every character can be likable but these young women were relatable and complicated with their own internal struggles, endearing them to fans and cementing their place in the teen drama hall of fame.
There are many teen drama characters to look up but these female characters were iconic and memorable. They taught viewers how to be their best selves and what it meant to be a good friend and a positive role model.
Joey Potter - Dawson's Creek (1998-2003)
Joey was one of the most memorable girls from Dawson's Creek. She is essentially the main character when the focus isn't on Dawson himself, of course. However, she was a fresh take on a typical teenage girl because she rejected conformity and remained honest throughout the show's run.
Fans were enthralled by her relationships because they wanted to root for her and her love interests, always wanting the best for her. She was also clever and poised, which made her likable for fans of the popular teen drama.
Summer Roberts - The O.C (2003-2007)
On the surface, Summer is a spoiled rich girl who only cares about fashion, boys, and celeb gossip - she even proclaims this herself in The O.C. Originally just the sidekick to Marissa, Summer evolves over the course of the show with fans seeing how intelligent she was, even getting into an Ivy League college and surprising the rest of her classmates.
What made her even more likable was her comedic timing, her witty one-liners, and her self-assuredness which saw her always going for exactly what she wanted. Thanks to her multi-faceted personality and her iconic relationship with Seth, she is now considered an early 2000s icon.
Emily Fields - Pretty Little Liars (2010-2017)
In Pretty Little Liars, Emily Fields was considered "the nice one." She definitely struggled just like the other Liars but remained wholesome throughout. Viewers also itted her growth as she became more confident and headstrong as the series went on, but never became nasty or devious.
Emily was also a positive influence for the LGBTQ+ community and a great example of representation for women of color. Fans considered her to be the most relatable and likable of the main characters. She was confident in her friendships and always stayed loyal in her relationships at, most of the time, she was the one with the good head on her shoulders when things got heavy.
Lexi Howard - Euphoria (2019-)
The most recent season of Euphoria revealed just how well-liked Lexi was. She wasn't the primary focus of the season and didn't get the most drama-filled storylines but that's what made viewers compare themselves to her. Lexi provided the words of wisdom especially in the final episodes of season 2.
She stepped into the light this season and proved just how perceptive she really is. Of all the characters in Euphoria, fans would most likely want to be friends with Lexi because she is nonjudgemental, ive, and not afraid to go for what she wants.
Bonnie Bennett - The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)
Bonnie Bennett is essentially the backbone of best things Bonnie ever did in TVD. That is why she is the fan-favorite and most likable character from the series.
Bonnie is warm and friendly but fierce and emotionally intelligent. She is the one fans want to have a happy ending, despite the fact that she kind of didn't. Bonnie is loyal and not afraid to speak up and stand up for herself, which makes her irable. And at times, she even had the villains of the show shaking in their boots, which is something fans will always about her.
Manny Santos - Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001-2015)
Manny Santos is best known for her iconic looks from best friendships in Degrassi: The Next Generation. However, she quickly becomes her own person and she is definitely an underrated character.
Manny is quick to be a ive friend and team player, which is a quality everyone wants in a friend. She was also authentic, which made her incredibly relatable to female viewers. Whenever there was conflict, Manny managed to stay true to herself and make it through. She always came out on top in the end.
Maeve Wiley - Sex Education (2019-)
Fans of Sex Education know Maeve Wiley is unapologetic and fearless. She is the fan favorite of the series and for many fans, Maeve is the best Sex Education character largely because she is confident while also being vulnerable at times. Maeve stands up for herself and others even when it can be tough to do so.
She is a great friend and when she finds herself lacking in the friend category, she can recognize this and do better. She also has some of the best quotes in Sex Education which make her all the more likable. Her ability to put herself first and also be a great friend and ally makes her both hugely likable and also a great role model.
Blair Waldorf - Gossip Girl (2007-2012)
The characters on the original run of Gossip Girl had their fair share of chaotic moments and even questionable choices, but Blair always seems to be the one character fans want to succeed. She is witty and wise beyond her years. Although she is considered a mean girl, there is also openness and vulnerability to her.
The way she compares herself to Serena and the other characters in the series makes her human. There are a few unpopular opinions about Blair. However, she is a positive influence because she knows what she wants out of life and lets nothing hold her back.
Buffy Summers - Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)
The popular '90s teen show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer proved Buffy to be exactly what she needed to be, a fierce main character with a heart of gold and a truly likable personality. She is loyal and brave. She goes through so much emotional turmoil throughout the series but handles every situation with grace.
It can be hard to remain true to yourself when you're the chosen one but Buffy matures and grows with each chaotic storyline. She is also one of the most comforting characters in any teen show because she balances so much, from the supernatural to school studies, while maintaining her signature humor and always being a badass.
Brooke Davis - One Tree Hill (2003-2012)
Brooke Davis has the biggest transformation in One Tree Hill. Brooke is noticeably absent from the show's pilot episode, and she initially comes across as another sidekick and love interest for the main characters. Eventually, however, she becomes her own person with her own struggles.
Brooke is likable because she is emotional, strong, relatable, and honest. She is everyone's best friend and the one every character on the show goes to for . Viewers also see her work hard to achieve her own dreams and not let anyone hold her back. She is another character who sets out to get what she wants and does so without hurting anyone in the process.
