It looks like 2025 is going to be a very busy year for PlayStation 5 owners, as its lineup features a number of huge sprawling 100+ hour-long adventures. From giant Ubisoft-style open-world games to handcrafted indies worth checking out, there are a lot of amazing-looking titles releasing in 2025, putting PlayStation's award-winning 2024 lineup to shame.

While 2024 marked PlayStation's well-celebrated 30th anniversary, 2025 is a showcase of the kind of experiences those picking up a PS1 back in 1995 could never have dreamed of. There really is something for everyone releasing in 2025, but those who love RPGs, great indie experiences, open-world titles, and horror games have a lot to look forward to.

10 Ghost of Yotei (Sucker Punch Productions)

One Of The Biggest PlayStation Exclusives In 2025

Ghost of Yotei is PlayStation's big exclusive of 2025, bringing players back into Sucker Punch Productions' romanticized and rather gruesome version of Feudal Japan. Set hundreds of years after the events of the first game, players will take on the role of a whole new protagonist, Atsu, as she takes up the titular Ghost mantle as part of her new quest. There is a lot about the sequel that remains a mystery, but early trailers have showcased it'll be as breathtakingly beautiful as Tsushima.

One of the reasons for this is its setting, Hokkaido. Situated in the north of Japan, this diverse region is the perfect place to stage a story of revenge and redemption. Players will be able to dictate the direction of Atsu's narrative, just as they could with Jin in Ghost of Tsushima. In fact, plenty of Tsushima's best mechanics are carrying over into this sequel. However, Sucker Punch Productions have given players even more choice over Atsu's story and fate. It looks set to be the perfect PlayStation experience and a good reason to pick up a PS5 in 2025.

9 Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (Kojima Productions)

A Bizarre Sequel To A Very Unique Game

Death Stranding was a divisive video game when it was released back in 2021, but since then it has become a bit of a cult classic. Fortunately for fans, its success commercially has allowed Kojima to make its sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. Featuring an even bigger cast of celebrities, Death Stranding 2 has somehow managed to look even more bizarre than its predecessor, which is saying something.

Every Actor In Death Stranding 2 (& What You Know Them From)

Although not all characters in the recently-announced Death Stranding 2 have been revealed, the known cast list has both new and returning actors.

A big part of this is the extremely bizarre photo mode that took the internet by storm when it was first announced, thanks to how revolutionary and slightly off-putting it is. Nevertheless, PlayStation fans who love a thoroughly cinematic video game experience directed by one of the greatest auteurs in the industry should absolutely get excited for this bigger and bolder sequel.

8 Outer Worlds 2 (Obsidian Entertainment)

An Xbox Production Coming To PlayStation

The Outer Worlds 2 was initially announced as an Xbox exclusive. However, luckily for PlayStation fans, during The Game Awards 2024, it was revealed that it would be launching on the PS5 as well in 2025. Of course, this makes sense considering Xbox's newfound love of all platforms outside its own, as well as the fact that the original Outer Worlds was a cross-platform release.

The Outer Worlds 2 looks like a bigger and better sequel, sporting enhanced visuals and more distinct planets. It's really leaning into the colorful and diverse aspect of its universe, making it a great alternative to Starfield. Of course, it's also coming from Obsidian Entertainment, who has learned a lot since the release of the first Outer Worlds game. As such, PlayStation fans should absolutely get excited for this new sci-fi RPG.

7 Elden Ring Nightreign (FromSoftware)

A Surprise Addition To 2025's Lineup

One game absolutely no one expected to be announced at the 2024 Game Awards was an Elden Ring spin-off. After reports that Elden Ring 2 isn't in development, fans had all but given up hope of getting anything even remotely related. Luckily, FromSoftware had a co-op adventure cooking in the background and proudly announced it with all the flair one has come to expect from the talented developer.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a cooperative game and has been designed with that in mind. However, for those who prefer to play souls games alone, Nightreign can be played entirely solo.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a fully standalone co-op experience in which players attempt to take down some of the toughest bosses FromSoftware has designed while exploring the vast open world. It's everything fans have come to love only with a more fleshed-out co-op element. PlayStation fans should absolutely keep their eyes out for this when it launches in 2025.

6 Ballad Of Antara (Tipsworks Studio)

A New Dark Fantasy ARPG

Ballad of Antara is an epic new open-world soulslike action RPG in which players take on the role of an Emissary as they navigate a harsh fantasy world. With multiple diverse regions to explore and a plethora of characters to meet, Ballad of Antara looks like it could be 2025's answer to Dragon's Dogma 2. It can also be played entirely in multiplayer, which is great for those looking for a co-op experience on PS5.

Notably, Ballad of Antara is completely free-to-play, although how that will affect the base experience has yet to be disclosed by its developer. This isn't Tipsworks Studio's first game, as it previously released the somewhat well-received soulslike Pascal's Wager. It certainly has a lot of experience in this genre, so Ballad of Antara has strong foundations on which to build on. PS5 soulslike fans should definitely keep this in their wishlist.

5 The Midnight Walk (MoonHood)

A PlayStation Indie To Keep Your Eye On

The Midnight Walk is the latest game from the developers behind Lost in Random and Fe. It is a terrifying horror game in which players take on the role of The Burnt One as they attempt to navigate a Tim Burton-esque handcrafted world made entirely of clay. With creepy monsters to contend with and a truly surreal landscape to explore, The Midnight Walk is certainly one of the most unique indies to come out of 2025.

From award-winning RPGs to beloved and iconic Metroidvanias, PlayStation Plus has several excellent indie games for players to get stuck into.

What makes it stand out above the rest is its gameplay loop that sees players rely on their trusty friend Potboy to get through unscathed. Players can use Potboy's flame to distract enemies while they hide, or use it to navigate through dark spaces. It feels reminiscent of the likes of The Last Guardian, although its stop-motion clay aesthetic certainly sets it apart.

4 DOOM: The Dark Ages (Id Software)

A New DOOM Game To Rip Into

DOOM: The Dark Ages is yet another Xbox exclusive coming to PS5, although this was always planned as a cross-platform release. It is a prequel to 2016's phenomenal first-person shooter DOOM, and sees the DOOM Slayer explore a medieval-esque hellscape full of familiar and new foes. In fact, DOOM: The Dark Ages is an origin story of sorts for the DOOM Slayer, which is perfect for those who've found themselves deeply immersed in the latest set of games' mythos.

DOOM: The Dark Ages has a plethora of new guns and weapons for players to use against the new hordes of enemies, as well as some terrifying bosses to face against. It'll be the perfect game to get stuck into between the epic RPGs that are releasing on PlayStation 5 in 2025. DOOM: The Dark Ages is definitely one to keep an eye on moving into the already very busy 2025.

3 Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (MachineGames)

It's Coming To PlayStation After A Short Stint On Xbox

After releasing first on Xbox and PC, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is finally coming to PlayStation 5 in 2025. While it would have undoubtedly done incredibly well on PS5 had it launched there at the same time, the immensely glowing reviews for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have only helped to build hype going into 2025. It is easily one of the best movie tie-in games ever made, and a stunning single-player adventure worth embarking upon.

From its impressive open hub areas to its frenetic combat that sees Indy go from weapon to weapon while attempting to take down the Nazis, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle does a phenomenal job of both recreating the feel of the original films and offering long-time fans and newcomers something new. This is one Xbox-produced game that PlayStation fans should definitely not miss.

2 Where The Winds Meet (Everstone Studio)

An Exciting New Open-World RPG

Where the Winds Meet looks set to be a truly epic RPG, one that will be well worth checking out on PS5. It's set across a gorgeous sprawling open world set in ancient China filled with thousands of points of interest for players to uncover. It can be played entirely solo, but also features co-op and multiplayer modes, with the potential to play with thousands of other people. More PvP modes are planned for the future as well, which is great for those who enjoy playing online.

Where the Winds Meet could be PlayStation's answer to Ubisoft's style of game design, as it puts a big emphasis on exploring a vast open world filled with endless activities while unlocking new skills and weapons through various RPG systems. If developer Everstone Studio manages to pull it off, PlayStation could have another epic open-world adventure on its hands.

1 Monster Hunter Wilds (Capcom)

The Biggest Monster Hunter Game Ever

Monster Hunter Wilds is going to be the biggest Monster Hunter game ever made, with Capcom pouring everything it learned from past games and its other properties into it. Featuring a vast open world in which players can hunt giant monsters as well as AI companions to fight alongside for those who prefer to play offline, there is a lot to look forward to in Wilds. The seamless open world with its diverse and dynamic biomes is definitely the highlight of Wilds, and why so many people are already hyped to play it.

Of course, if Wilds is anything like the previous Monster Hunter games, then fans can expect to sink hundreds of hours into it. It seems to be a running trend with PlayStation's lineup in 2025, as several of its exclusive and cross-platform games are set to last over 100 hours. Suffice it to say, it seems like those playing on PlayStation 5 in 2025 are going to be very busy.
