Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
The success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has seen a surge of interest in Animal Crossing amiibo cards, but the toys-to-life era feels like it has come to an end. This hasn't stopped Capcom from announcing new amiibo for Monster Hunter Rise, as the series is finally returning to Nintendo systems. Monster Hunter World was a multi-platform title and it skipped the Wii U/Switch, so it didn't have any amiibo figures. amiibo are based on a Palico (hunters' cat-like companions of the hunter), a Palamute (a canine mount new to the game), and Magnamalo, the game's premier new monster. Scanning any of these amiibo into Monster Hunter Rise will unlock Magnamalo-themed layered armor for either the Palico, Palamute, or the hunter. Layered armor changes the appearance of the character without altering their stats, making it the perfect choice for players who want to look cool without compromising their strength.
The three Monster Hunter Rise amiibo will be receiving special golden variants in Japan, but they're going to be extremely hard to find. According to the amiibo Alerts Twitter page and an official statement on Capcom Japan's website, the golden Monster Hunter Rise amiibo will be given away as prizes, as part of a contest held by 7-11.
In order to enter the contest, customers must purchase a code for Monster Hunter Rise from January 25 to April 11. The code will also give the player a code for seven different items (Mega Potion, Pitfall Trap, Mega Demondrug, Mega Armorskin, Lifepowder, Max Potion, and Well-Done Steak). Everyone who purchases the code will be entered into sweepstakes, with 711 prizes on offer. The golden Monster Hunter Rise amiibo will be among the prizes, along with other merchandise related to the game.
It's unclear whether these golden amiibo will be available overseas, but Capcom has released variant figures for past figures, like the Golden Mega Man figure from the Mega Man Legacy Collection set. It's possible that they could be involved in a My Nintendo promotion or will be sold as retailer-exclusive items. Fans will know for sure soon, as the release of Monster Hunter Rise is only a few months away.
Monster Hunter Rise will be available for Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
