Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) was a veritable genius throughout best episodes of Monk involved crimes that could only have been solved by the titular eccentric detective himself. Others, however, were either moments where Adrian let someone else have a moment in the spotlight, or where another member of the cast of Monk deduced the truth all by themselves. As much as it annoyed him, there were at least five episodes of Monk where someone other than Adrian got to deliver the "here's what happened" moment.
Some of the Harold Krenshaw (Tim Bagley) was great at making Adrian mad, but having his thunder stolen by someone else doing the summation could also annoy Adrian to no end. Even though he was often disappointed by not being able to sum everything up himself, Adrian surprisingly let quite a few people do the "here's what happened" in Monk.
5 Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees
Monk Season 6, Episode 5
Adrian's trusty assistant Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard) finally got a chance to deliver an episode's "here's what happened" in Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees. After figuring out the crime, Adrian had to chase down Rob Sherman before he could destroy the only physical evidence left of his double murder. While he did so, Natalie explained everything to her daughter Julie's boyfriend, Tim. Natalie even had a fun moment during her summation, where she said, "I've been waiting a long time to say this: Here's what happened."
4 Mr. Monk and the Other Detective
Monk Season 4, Episode 1
Natalie got another chance to in on Adrian's summation in Mr. Monk and the Other Detective. Adrian figured out that Marty Eels (Jason Alexander) had learned about the crime he solved through his mother, who overheard the murderers talking on the phone while on hold with an airline. When they went to confront him about his lie, Natalie helped Adrian rub it in Marty's face. Adrian and Natalie didn't completely ruin Marty's career as a private detective, though, since they let him take credit for figuring out where his mother had been tied to a marina, and he even received the key to the city.
3 Mr. Monk Goes to Jail
Monk Season 2, Episode 16
Though Mr. Monk Goes to Jail features two big guest appearances - from Danny Trejo and Tim Curry - neither of them delivered the summation. Instead, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram) finally got a chance to figure out a case all on her own. While Adrian was being attacked by neo-Nazis in prison, Sharona told the warden that Ray Kaspo had been poisoned to destroy his organs. A billionaire with a rare blood type needed a kidney transplant, and Kaspo was a match, so destroying his organs effectively murdered the billionaire. Sharona was able to figure it all out because of her medical knowledge as a nurse.
2 Mr. Monk and the Rapper
Monk Season 6, Episode 2
One of Monk's most famous guest stars, Snoop Dogg, also got a chance to steal Adrian's thunder during his episode's big reveal. In Mr. Monk and the Rapper, Snoop's character, Murderuss, was framed for the murder of another rapper, Xtra Large. In typical fashion, Adrian figured out that the true killer of the episode was Denny Hodges, and that he was trying to kill his manager Woody, not Xtra Large. The only problem was that when he tried to explain the crime, Adrian was booed off stage by the rap fans, and Murderuss had to turn the "here's what happened" into a rap song.

One Of Monk’s Best Guest Stars Gave The Show Its Most Hilarious “Here’s What Happened” Scene
Monk episodes always ended with a "here's what happened" explanation and the most hilarious one was made possible through a memorable guest star.
Aside from being one of the few times Adrian didn't get to explain his own brilliance, Mr. Monk and the Rapper was notable for a few other reasons. Murderuss' rap was actually quite good and in keeping with Snoop Dogg's typical lyrical style and flow. He also had a few hilarious moments with Adrian, such as when Adrian tried to retrieve his mic after Murderuss' mic drop.
1 Mr. Monk Visits a Farm
Monk Season 5, Episode 14
Perhaps the best example of Adrian not explaining the murder in an episode of Monk came from Mr. Monk Visits a Farm. Lieutenant Randy Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford) was always a bit of a bumbling cop, but after storming an innocent old man's apartment and letting a drug dealer go free, he tendered his resignation. To help Randy build his confidence back up, Adrian decided to help him solve the murder of his uncle, but he had to sneak into Randy's room in the middle of the night to plant the solution into Randy's subconscious. The next morning, Randy proudly explained the entire crime and reed the police.

Why Monk’s Theme Song Changed After Season 1
Monk's original theme song was only around for one season before it was replaced by Randy Newman's "It's a Jungle Out There." Here's why.
While there are other examples of Monk episodes where characters other than Adrian explain how the crime was committed, these five give a fairly good idea of how the rest go. Usually, Adrian either gets caught up by circumstances or decides to let someone else have the fun. Almost nothing could stop Adrian from solving a crime himself, even if he didn't get to explain every murder that took place in Monk.
