Netflix released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing never-before-seen footage from the final episodes of Money Heist. The Spanish-language show, also known as La Casa de Papel, is gearing up to release its fifth and final season in two parts, with the first set of episodes dropping September 3. The Professor (Álvaro Morte) and his troop of Salvador Dalí-masked criminals are attempting to pull off their most risky heist yet. Or at the very least, make it out of the Bank of Spain alive.
The fifth season of Money Heist will be more explosive than ever. The trailers tease an all-out war between the criminals and the Spanish military as they attempt to steal all of the country's gold. Unfortunately, the Professor's plan is showing cracks. This leaves Toyko (Úrsula Coberó), Rachel/Lisbon (Itziar Ituño), and the rest of the gang to defend themselves, and avenge the deaths of their strangers-turned-family who lost their lives for the plan.
Ahead of the long-awaited premiere, Netflix unveiled a new video showing behind-the-scenes footage led by Pedro Alonso, who plays Berlin in Money Heist. Berlin might have died in season 2, but remains central to the story as the Professor's brother and the mastermind behind the current heist. Alonso shows off the marketing shoot, which is filled with plenty of guns and the total destruction of the set. And despite his character's dark demeanor, he's a jokester who goes around set "to bother" his cast mates, according to Coberó. Check out the full behind-the-scenes video below:
Berlin has remained a Money Heist since his debut. It could be argued the viewers have complicated relationships with all of the criminals with codenames inspired by major cities. However, Berlin is truly the most complex and harbors a lot of dark secrets. The YouTube video also shows Rio (Miguel Herrán), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Stockholm (Esther Acebo), and more suited up and ready for war. Also, the central antagonist Alicia (Najwa Nimri) makes a brief appearance.
Money Heist fans will have to prepare to say goodbye to the rag-tag group of criminals who they've developed deep relationships with through the screen. Netflix is spacing out the goodbye by releasing the final five episodes on December 3, but it will be tough. Considering the show relies on cliffhangers and ongoing questions, it's time for Netflix to tie up all of the loose ends and determine whether the Money Heist gang will be successful, or die trying.
