The latest season of Battle microtransactions and other forms of post-purchase monetization, it's nonetheless hard to argue with the developer Infinity Ward continues to provide to Call of Duty.

After being delayed in the wake of the social unrest currently impacting the United States and the world, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 is finally out, and it should prove worth the wait for fans looking for an excuse to dive back into the arcade action of Activision's most revered franchise.

Based on information released to us by Activision, Modern Warfare: Season 4 has something for everybody, from fans of the sprawling Warzone mode to operators who prefer the dangerous intimacy of 2v2 Gunfight. As expected, Season 4 contains a new Battle which adds new weapons and blueprints for players to unlock, with Battle buyers gaining instant access to a new operator, the legendary Captain Price.

Season 4 contains a Call of Duty's iconic armored suits to be active at one time; and yes, Juggernaut players can use a minigun.

Warzone matches will be significantly changed by new in-game events, like Fire Sale, where prices on items are reduced by 80%, but only for a single minute, and Jailbreak, which causes all defeated players to suddenly return to the match for one last shot at victory. Another new in-game event is Supply Chopper, wherein a heavily armored, but unarmed, plane appears in the skies over Verdansk. If shot down, the air vehicle drops high-end loot that could turn the tide of a match.

New additions will be added to Modern Warfare later on in the season, including new operators Gaz and Roze, who can be acquired via Call of Duty points, which can purchased with real money. As the season goes on, new modes will be added to the traditional multiplayer suite, including the classic One in the Chamber mode, as well as All or Nothing, which arms players with little more than a handgun, a throwing knife, and their own will to survive. Team Defender gives one player a flag, and their teammates must protect them at all costs against the enemy team.

While many eagerly await the announcement of 2020's Call of Duty title, developer Infinity Ward is doing an excellent job of keeping Modern Warfare alive and relevant with new features and content. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still going strong, and its expansive suite of multiplayer options may be the best the series has ever offered.
