Warning: Major spoilers ahead for episode 9 of MobLand
Lara Pulver's Bella Harrigan is perhaps the most enigmatic character in Paramount+'s the end of episode 8.
Her past with the Harrigans aside, Bella is engaged in perhaps the most mysterious subplot set in the modern day in MobLand. So far she's been shown engaged in some sort of negotiations with a Frenchman named Antoine, who is speaking with Bella on behalf of an unnamed client. Bella's father, a businessman with connections to the halls of power in the government, is also somehow involved, although the nature of his role remains a mystery. Episode 9 saw the identity of Antoine's client revealed, yet Bella's ultimate intentions frustratingly still haven't come to light.

MobLand May Have Just Revealed Who The Harrigan "Rat" Working With Richie Is
Paranoia, specifically about betrayal, invades every inch of the intriguing and grisly drama MobLand, and one major rat might have just been revealed.
Bella's Plan For The Home Secretary: What Is She After?
Bella May Be Seeking A Way Out Of The Harrigan Empire
The meeting that Bella had been trying to broker through her father's connections with the government finally took place in episode 9, and it turned out to be a sit-down between the U.K.'s Home Secretary and a sanctioned Syrian arms dealer. The Home Secretary (the equivalent of the interior minister in some countries, or the Secretary of the Interior in the United States) is one of the United Kingdom's most influential Cabinet , and is responsible for law enforcement, national security, immigration, and MI5 (military intelligence, officially known as the Security Service).
The final episode of season 1 of MobLand will be released at midnight EST on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.
Even through nine episodes, it's unclear how Bella would manage to benefit from connecting an arms dealer to the Home Secretary, although it certainly seems like there could be a major financial gain for her if some sort of deal is set up to allow the flow of arms into the U.K. It could also be her way of trying to crawl into a position of power with connections to the government, as her father has. This could be a way for Bella to get out from under Conrad's thumb.
Bella Likely Really Wants Leverage Against The Harrigans
She May Be Seeking Her Own Position To Get Away From Conrad
The amount of effort that Bella has gone to in order to make the meeting happen makes it seem like there is far more at stake than simple financial gain. She has gone against Harry's advice at every turn, as he has told her many times not to get involved, seemingly as she is out of her depth. She proved that already, as she had to recruit Harry's services as a fixer to rid Antoine of a damning piece of blackmail. Her willingness to swim in deeper waters means she is likely after power and influence that would help her get leverage against the Harrigans.
Bella Harrigan actress Lara Pulver is perhaps best known for her role as the seductive Irene Adler in BBC's Sherlock, for which she received a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actress in a Movie/Miniseries.
It isn't a coincidence that she's involved with a Syrian arms dealer, while Conrad's two biggest sources of income are moving drugs and guns into and across London. The scheme could be Bella trying to maneuver herself into a position of power with Conrad's competition for guns, with the ultimate goal of getting leverage against Conrad. If she has influence or intelligence over how his competition operates, she becomes a much more essential cog in the Harrigans' operation, or, on the other side of the coin, a person with their finger on the button in blowing their whole operation up.
Bella's Plan Could Easily Backfire
Bella May Wind Up Jeopardizing Her Own Future
While it's possible to speculate, the true nature of Bella's scheme has remained clouded, almost frustratingly so after nine episodes of MobLand. Its confusing nature could be intentional, as it's an indication that Bella herself doesn't have a firm grasp on what she's meddling in. The entire thing could blow up in her face given that she doesn't seem to have much purpose now that the Home Secretary has met the arms dealer. As a Guy Ritchie-produced show, it seems likely that Bella's scheme ties into the grander narrative of MobLand, but so far it seems purely problematic.
