Mortal Kombat 1 rekindles an old tradition of the Mortal Kombat series from its arcade days, introducing a new palette-swapped ninja named Floyd that you can find and beat. This secret character is so hidden that it has taken the community by storm as everyone searches for the best ways to encounter him. You can challenge this pink ninja for an amazing reward if you meet the right conditions.
Floyd refers to the band Pink Floyd, just like Rain was a reference to Prince and his hit song "Purple Rain." The appearance of Floyd harkens back to the original three Mortal Kombat arcade titles, which included secret fights against hidden ninja characters. While mostly just recolors of Scorpion and Sub-Zero, characters like Reptile, Ermac, and Noob Saibot wouldn't exist without their secret fights existing.

A New Challenger From A Recent Update
The inclusion of Conan the Barbarian as a DLC fighter to Mortal Kombat 1 also added a patch to the game. At first, references to Floyd were small, with a message appearing during or at the end of matches seemingly at random. Players would sometimes see a pink logo with the word "Floyd" from time to time, prompting questions as to what secret the game was hinting toward.

Mortal Kombat 1: How To Unlock All KLUES & Key Locations (Invasions Season 7)
Invasions have entered season 7 in Mortal Kombat 1. There are new Klues and Key Items. But, you will have to defeat Shang Tsung to win it all.
It was later datamined that Floyd is a secret fighter introduced in the Conan patch that can only be encountered when a player completes certain challenges. These challenges refer to optional goals throughout fights, which range from very specific tasks to arbitrary objectives. As a result, it has been notoriously hard to get "Floyd" messages, as fans have learned that everyone has their own unique requirements to meet.
The "Floyd" message will appear on the side of the screen where your character is. This will usually be on the left if you are Player 1, especially if you are going through Invasions or Towers of Time to complete Floyd-related challenges.
Once you trigger the "Floyd" message a certain number of times, you are instantly transported to a new stage to fight the pink ninja. Included in Mortal Kombat 1's new update is a never-before-seen stage where Floyd resides, known only as "Field." This gorgeous landscape was only seen during the first trailer for the game, where Liu Kang showcased his first brutal Fatality against Shang Tsung.
How To Trigger The Floyd Fight
Complete Challenges Until He Appears

According to a Reddit post made by IfTheresANewWay, there are 37 possible challenges your could get as part of the new update regarding Floyd.
Some challenges require you to play as certain characters, while others demand you complete them in various modes. For example, one Floyd challenge may ask you to finish a task in Story mode to get the message. How To Beat Floyd In MK1
Defeat The Pink Ninja In Limited Attempts
As soon as you complete the tenth challenge specific to your , you will be transported to the Field stage where Floyd awaits. This pink ninja has moves from every other Mortal Kombat ninja in existence, making them a unique fighter. Similar to Khameleon, Floyd can use attacks like Reptile's slide, Rain's lightning, Smoke's teleport kick, Sub-Zero's freeze, or even Scorpion's iconic "Get Over Here!"
Floyd also has attacks unique to his character, such as a move that creates a rainbow wall behind your character, limiting your movement options during the fight.
Floyd is like any AI-controlled opponent you could face, set to Very Hard difficulty and equipped with no Kameo. You fight Floyd with whatever character you complete the final challenge with, so make sure you enter the battle with a goal that can be met by anyone. It'll be much easier to defeat Floyd with a combination of character and Kameo in Mortal Kombat 1 you're used to controlling.

10 Best Mortal Kombat 1 Fighters For Beginners
Beginners to Mortal Kombat 1 have a diverse roster of fighters to choose from, but the best characters to try first are ones that are easy to learn.
The attack speed of Floyd is faster than most characters, mostly to make up for the secret ninja's lack of Kameo ally. However, Floyd tends to taunt during the match, giving you a chance to strike back with a full combo. Wait for opportunities to strike back against Floyd to tear through his health over multiple rounds and claim victory.
Losing to Floyd will give you two more chances to rematch him during his encounter. After you lose against Floyd three times, you will have to complete 10 challenges again to find the pink ninja another time. You won't be able to switch characters between losses, so formulate the right strategy to take this ninja down to claim a truly one-of-a-kind reward.
Rewards For Defeating Floyd
Claim The Beautiful Stage Where The Battle Was Fought
For taking down Floyd, players can receive:
- Fires of Amaranth (Scorpion Kameo Legendary Palette)
- Pink Ice (Sub-Zero Kameo Legendary Palette)
- Fuchsia Flames (Scorpion Kameo Legendary Palette)
- Fresh Powder (Sub-Zero Kameo Legendary Palette)
- Floyd Kombat Kard Background
- Floyd Kombat Kard Foreground
- Rainbow Ninjas Kombat Kard Background
- Pink Ninja Kombat Kard Foreground
- Field - Sunset Stage
While the multiple cosmetic options for Scorpion and Sub-Zero Kameos pair well with new Kombat Kard customizations, The Field is the best reward here. Defeating Floyd allows you to play on the gorgeous stage where you encounter the ninja, both in offline and online matches. While it is not perfectly optimized, this stage stands apart from any of the others found in the base game.
Despite the monumental effort it takes to find Floyd, it is worth doing for the stage alone. This callback to the arcade days breathes new life into Mortal Kombat 1, so find Floyd for yourself and beat the new hidden ninja now while you can still claim some bragging rights!
