Simon Pegg teases Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning's cast once again features Pegg as Benji and Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, with a story that continues from the previous movie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. The eighth movie was called Dead Reckoning Part Two until the title was changed to The Final Reckoning. Mission: Impossible star Shea Whigham also shared high praise for the long-awaited sequel.

While on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Pegg asserted that The Final Reckoning is the best movie yet in the Mission: Impossible series. He described the movie as "bananas" and shared that he has finished filming all his scenes other than one day left of pickup shooting to do. Pegg also emphasized that his praise for The Final Reckoning is not for promotional purposes but is genuinely how he feels about the movie. Check out his comments below:

I have just finished shooting. I have one day left of pickups to do. I've seen it. It's bananas. It's absolutely bananas. What he does in this one, it boggles the mind. I think this one is the best one ever. And I'm not just saying that because it's like, "Oh, you've got to say that." It is going to be great.

What This Means For Mission Impossible 8

The High Anticipation Is Further Heightened

Between Dead Reckoning's cliffhanger ending and the possibility of the next chapter being the end of Ethan's story, The Final Reckoning already has a great deal of anticipation surrounding it. Pegg further amplifies the anticipation with his declaration that it will be the franchise's all-time best movie. Since ing Mission: Impossible III, which was released in 2006, Pegg knows the franchise well and has been in the majority of the movies, which adds more credence to his praise of The Final Reckoning being the best yet.

Changing the eighth movie's title from Dead Reckoning Part Two to The Final Reckoning further poises it to be the last installment in Ethan's journey. If this is the case, it would fit well for Cruise to ensure that Ethan's ending is even more memorable than all the movies that preceded it. Cruise performing the most daring and visually stunning stunts yet would further explain Pegg describing the project as "bananas." This description indicates that not only Ethan, but also Benji and all The Final Reckoning characters' stories will go in surprising and satisfying directions.
