With the release of Minecraft's first-ever movie, you can get a special cape tied to the film by completing quests during a limited-time event. This extremely rare cosmetic can only be earned when you travel to a unique version of the Overworld for the event before the movie releases in theaters. You only have a few days to collect the Yearn cape, so you'll need to meet objectives quickly.

The Minecraft Movie Live Event begins on March 25, 2025, at 2:30 pm PT on both the Bedrock and Java versions of the game. After updating your game to include this update, you can Steve in Midport Village to participate in the event for a limited time. Along with other new features for Minecraft in this update, the event world you explore has plenty of content.

In Before The Event Ends

To the Movie Live Event, choose the unique event server from the main menu when you start your game. This will load you into Midport Village, a unique world with multiple characters you can interact with to go on different adventures. Once you load into the world, you're able to participate in unique mini-games, complete challenges, and do other tasks for exclusive rewards.

Here is just some of the content you can take part in when you the Movie Live Event:

While not a world you can find in the best seeds for Minecraft, the Movie Live Event world still has plenty you can explore. However, the Movie Live Event world server lasts until April 7, 2025, giving you a short time to enjoy the content within it. Different quests will unlock every other day while the event world is active, so you'll have to check in on it multiple times to claim each reward available.

Bedrock edition s of Minecraft can access the Movie Live Event immediately from the main menu. Java edition players may have to use the Bedrock version to participate, and then send over any rewards they gain to their other .

Complete Events To Gain A Cosmetic Item

To earn the Yearn cape, you have to complete sixdifferent challenges in the Battle for Midport Village event, which are given to you by characters in the server. Challenges are tied to quests with multiple steps you pursue while exploring the event server. Finishing a challenge gives you some additional rewards, from special armor in Minecraft or unique currency, such as Emeralds or Experience.

As you can see, the Yearn cape is awarded to you for completing the last quest challenge, which asks you to finish all the other missions first. These quests test your combat prowess and resource management, as you'll be either killing enemies or mining for materials. Thankfully, I've found that The Mines area of the event server should have every resource you need, including the best level for Diamonds in Minecraft to finish the last quest's second goal.

There are two other capes available in the Minecraft Movie Live Event, named the "Home" and "Menace" capes. These items can be earned when you watch a Minecraft creator for at least 3 minutes on either TikTok or Twitch and gain a redemption code for either cosmetic.

From my experience, the challenges in the limited-time event shouldn't take too long to complete, especially if you pursue them with friends. Once you finally earn the Yearn cape in the Minecraft Movie Live Event, you will have earned the rarest reward possible to use in any other world you start in this iconic sandbox game.
