A brand-new Minecraft Wild Update will add frogs, along with new Deep Dark and Mangrove Swamp biomes, and players can now get a taste of this exciting content.
First announced back in October 2021, the Wild Update will introduce two original biomes to the randomly-generated worlds of Minecraft. The new Mangrove Swamp biome will be a dense swamp filled with overgrown mangrove trees. Frogs will be added as unique inhabitants of these lush areas, and they will reportedly go through a realistic life cycle from tadpole to adult. Meanwhile, the Deep Dark biome will dare Minecraft players to explore deadly underground ruins in search of valuable loot. While powerful items can be found in the cavernous areas, a deadly new foe will also stalk the biome. The Wild Update's Deep Dark Cities will be overgrown with a strange Sculk substance, too, making it a truly unsettling area.
As reported by PC Gamer, a new Minecraft snapshot allows players to experience some of the unique additions coming in the Wild Update. Snapshots release certain features early, allowing the community to test them out before the official update launches. Minecraft Snapshot 22w11a introduces frogs, mangrove blocks, the Deep Dark biome and Sculk Shrieker blocks. While not every part of the Wild Update is included in this preview, the snapshot does let fans introduce themselves to adorable frogs and journey down into the Deep Dark before the Wild Update actually arrives.
While many parts of the Wild Update are included in Minecraft's Snapshot 22w11a, some key features have been left out. For example, the terrifying hostile Minecraft mob the Warden is mysteriously absent from the Deep Dark in the current preview build. The extremely powerful foe, arguably the most dangerous in the entire game, is meant to stalk in the underground region and respond to an activated Sculk Shrieker block. Players were previously able to get acquainted with the Warden in February's Deep Dark Experimental Snapshot, though they are nowhere to be found in Snapshot 22w11a.
Following the launch of the Caves & Cliffs Update last year, Minecraft players look to the Wild Update as the game's next piece of sizable content. The update will add new features across two separate biomes, and Snapshot 22w11a will let players experience some of these additions right now. Whether they want to sneak through the Deep Dark or just hang out with a frog, Minecraft fans should check out the survival sandbox's wild new snapshot.
Minecraft is available on all platforms.
