The Mace is a new weapon added to Minecraft after the Tricky Trials update, giving you a new crafting recipe for another tool to fight enemy mobs. This tool has stats designed to deal heavy damage to targets after your character falls from certain heights. To create this item, you'll have to gather several new materials that were also added as a part of the current update.
Everything new in the 1.21 update includes not just the Mace, but a variety of new locations that you may have to visit to find materials used to make the weapon. Never-before-seen mobs roam Trial Chambers, or challenging dungeons that have a chance to spawn in a generated world. Similar to Villages or Ruins, these Chambers appear randomly for you to discover as you venture out on various expeditions for resources.

How To Craft A Mace In Minecraft
Combine Breeze Rods And Heavy Cores
The only way to make a Mace in Minecraft is to combine one Breeze Rod item with one Heavy Core. When placing these two items in a Crafting Table grid, place the Breeze Rod in the middle and put the Heavy Core in the middle spot in the top row to produce a Mace. This item has 500 Durability, meaning it will eventually break like other weapons and tools your character can use.
Unlike Swords, Axes, and Shovels, Maces are not made of standard refined ores, like Iron, Gold, or Diamond. Every Mace has the same durability since there are no variations to the item.
Mace Property |
Stat Value |
---|---|
Attack Damage |
6 (9 critical) |
Attack Speed |
0.6 |
Damage per Second (DPS) |
3.6 (5.4 critical) |
Durability |
500 |
The Mace's special abilitiy is to deal more damage when you hit an enemy after falling a certain number of blocks. For example, if you drop around 1.5 blocks from your house in Minecraft to hit a nearby Creeper, you will deal 18 damage instead of the standard 6. With the right enchantments, these numbers can get even higher, allowing you to dispose of basic hostile mobs in just one slamming strike.
How To Get Breeze Rods In Minecraft
Track Down And Defeat New Mobs
Breeze Rods can be found dropped by Breeze mobs that spawn in Trial Chambers through different spawners. These dungeon-like areas host a variety of enemies, but you need to track down the Trial Spawners that produce wind elementals similar to Blazes. Make sure you have plenty of food and armor equipped before you challenge a Trial Chamber in search of these enemies.
Thankfully, every Breeze you kill has a 100% chance of dropping one or two Breeze Rods. With different Luck enchantments, you can force Breezes to drop even more Rods upon their defeat. Breeze Rods are used in recipes for other items in Minecraft other than a Mace, so you may want to collect as many instances of this item as you can.
How To Get A Heavy Core In Minecraft
Explore Trial Chambers To Find Specific Rewards
Heavy Cores can be found in Trial Chambers as rewards for reaching the end of the dungeon and defeating its enemies. There is a 7.5% chance that a Heavy Core will be your prize for reaching the Ominous Vault container, but there will only be one Core. If you accidentally place the Heavy Core, it acts like a normal block that can be mined with a Stone or Iron Pickaxe without breaking the item.
You won't be able to find a Mace through a world seed with Village Blacksmiths, so finding Breeze Rods and a Heavy Core is the only way to construct this weapon. Once you use the right recipe to build a Mace in Minecraft, you can use its special attack to decimate enemies as you continue to challenge the new Trial Chambers for more rewards.
