Announced as part of a big Minecraft update, the Creaking is a chilling new mob that can only be found in one place in the game. If its eerie appearance wasn't enough, there's only one way to beat it in Mojang Studio's sandbox game. This frightful creature is seemingly invincible to the uninformed, so you need to look for a key element linked to it and your surroundings.

Not even the best crafting recipes in Minecraft can save you if you don't. After all, its unique attack style makes it rather deadly. Nevertheless, if you want to conquer the rare biome that Creakings are exclusively available in, you'll need to adapt to the only strategy available as a means to defeat one.

How To Find a Creaking

The Pale Garden Biome

Pale Garden biome in Minecraft where you can find Creaking

The only way to find Creaking in Minecraft is by exploring the Pale Garden biome. This grey-colored woodland is easily one of the most creepy areas in the game, even more so than when players stumble across the classic Creepers in Minecraft. However, there currently isn't an official way to make the biome appear on command.

At the moment, the only way to come across the Pale Garden biome is by randomly exploring. To give yourself the best chance of finding it, keep venturing out as far as possible into your world from where you spawn. As soon as you start spotting the grey tree tops and ashen tree trunks, you'll find yourself in the Pale Garden, along with one if not multiple Creakings lurking in the Shadows.

How To Defeat a Creaking

Destroy Or Take Its Heart

The only way to beat a Creaking in Minecraft is by striking its Creaking Heart, which is hidden somewhere nearby but attached to the mob through a spirit-like connection. You'll notice this because striking the Creaking itself inflicts no damage, but you'll see a streak of particles appear off it and flow into the distance. Whether up in a tree or below, following the particles before striking it enough to destroy it will also kill its Creaking in turn.

A Creaking only attacks you when you're not looking. This means that you'll need to find its heart fast while you're looking for it, or it will quickly deplete your health.

If you use Silk Touch, one of Minecraft's best enchantments, you can also take the Creaking Heart for yourself, which will then deactivate it and make its attached mob disappear. If you want to reactivate it, you need to the Creaking Heart between two log blocks. As long as you to minimally strike the Creaking to follow the particles to its Creaking Heart and destroy or deactivate it, you'll never have difficulty beating it in Minecraft ever again.
