Here’s which actors are in the voice cast of the new Netflix original animated series Adventure Time mastermind Pendleton Ward and comedian and podcaster Duncan Trussell, the eight-episode show offers insane, imaginative, and hilarious content that is not easily explained.
The Midnight Gospel follows a space caster, a pink-skinned young man named Clancy, as he travels in a hallucinatory alternative dimension known as “The Chromatic Ribbon” to visit dying worlds. Throughout the show, he explores existential questions about life, death and everything in between, offering a weirdly original and profound animation for adults.

Duncan Trussell as Clancy
Duncan Trussell plays Clancy, a space caster who is in possession of a malfunctioning multiverse simulator. Trussell is known for his podcast The Duncan Trussell Family Hour. He has appeared in Adventure Time and multiple episodes of the Funny or Die web series Drunk History. He also voices the character Dave on the animated HBO show Animals.
Phil Hendrie as The Universe Simulator
Phil Hendrie plays the voice of the Universe Simulator, also known as the Pyro Moth, the computer that allows travel to alternate dimensions. Hendrie is best known for his radio show The Phil Hendrie Show, as well as his recurring role on the drama The Unit. He has portrayed multiple characters on the animated comedies Rick and Morty, and King of the Hill.
Maria Bamford as The Witch
Maria Bamford plays a host of characters in The Midnight Gospel, but her role as the Witch is to keep a watchful eye over Clancy. Bamford is a stand-up comedian best known for her portrayal of her dysfunctional family and jokes about depression and anxiety. She has starred in Stuart Little, 2016 Netflix original series Lady Dynamite.
Johnny Pemberton as Cornelius
Johnny Pemberton plays Cornelius, a haunted man with a long, thin mustache who loves to sing and collect bugs. Pemberton is best known for his role on the short-lived FOX sitcom 21 Jump Street, as well as 22 Jump Street.
Joey Diaz as Steve the Junk Boat Fish
Joey Diaz plays a few characters throughout The Midnight Gospel, but his role as Steve the Junk Boat Fish is that of a gadget salesman with a fish bowl head who dawns an eyepatch. Diaz is an actor and comedian best known for his role on the television series My Name Is Earl. He has appeared in the films The Longest Yard, Spider-Man 2, and Taxi. He is a regular guest on comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Doug Lussenhop as Daniel Hoops
Doug Lussenhop plays Daniel Hoops, an amateur rhymer who seeks ice cream in efforts to cool his burning mouth. Lussenhop is an American musician and comedian best known for his work in the comedy duo Tim and Eric projects including Tom Goes to the Mayor, Tim and Eric Nite Live and the feature film, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie.
Steve Little as Captain Bryce
Steve Little plays a simulator repairman Captain Bryce, whose signature moustache mimics those of bird wings. Little is best known for his role in the HBO series Eastbound & Down. He has appeared in Adventure Time and also in the movie Accepted.
Christina Pazsitzky as Sarah
Christina Pazsitzky plays multiple characters, but her role as Sarah will amuse viewers as a green monster who makes potions from milking crows in exchange for babies. Pazsitzky is a comedian and podcaster been known for her podcast Your Mom’s House, which she hosts with fellow comedian and husband Tom Segura. She has appeared in Jackass Number Two, National Lampoon’s TV: The Movie, and on the television show Trollz.
Stephen Root as Blithrreyus
Stephen Root plays Blithrreyus, Clancy's neighbor, a large man with an enormous red beard who operates out of an alternate universe driven compound. Root has starred in Office Space, Dodgeball, and Get Out. His television appearances include Barry, which earned him an Emmy nomination for his role as Monroe Fuches.
Drew Pinsky as the Little President
Drew Pinsky's role as the Little President, also known as Glasses Man, is that of a diminutive, gun-totting, but charismatic president to an alternate United States of America. Pinsky has made several television appearances on Dawson's Creek, The Masked Singer.
