The latest Canary build of Microsoft Edge on Windows has a new tool that can detect performance issues in the browser and recommend mitigating actions. Slow and laggy browsers are a massive problem and can often take a huge toll on productivity. While most browser vendors promise a super-fast experience, reality is often very different.

Called 'Performance Detector,' the new feature is currently only available in the Canary version of Microsoft Edge. The tool is designed to detect any issues caused by unnecessary tabs or third-party extensions that may be hogging system resources, resulting in a sub-par performance. The tool will also recommend actions to fix any performance issues it detects, although it is unclear how that will happen. The MS Edge Settings page explains, "When this is on, the browser detects tab performance issues and recommends an action to fix," according to Windows Latest, The feature is switched on by default, but s can toggle it off if they want.
Performance Detector Can Be Easily Enabled/Disabled
To enable or disable the Performance Detector tool, the latest Canary version of Microsoft Edge will need to be ed and installed. Then launch the browser, click on the three-dot menu button at the top-right corner, and select 'System and performance' on the left sidebar. Now scroll down a little to find and toggle the switch next to 'Performance detector' to enable or disable the feature. Even though the Performance Detector tool is currently available in the Canary version of Microsoft Edge, there's currently no word on when it will receive a wider release via the stable version.
Apart from Performance Detector, putting background tabs to sleep after a period of inactivity, and fading sleeping tabs in order to reduce memory and U usage. Microsoft claims that the feature not only improves power efficiency, but overall helps the PC perform better when its Edge browser is in use.
