Kohei Horikoshi's manga, My Hero Academia, concluded on August 5, 2024, with chapter #430. The culmination of Deku's journey as the greatest hero couldn’t have been more fitting, with his actions revolutionizing the entire system of heroes and villains. The final chapter presents the aftermath of the war through a timeskip, showing how society has evolved.

This chapter also offers a glimpse into Deku’s life as an ordinary person and his new role as a teacher at U.A. High. The most intriguing aspect of the ending is that Deku is once again given the opportunity to become a hero. With the possibility of Deku being a Hero again, the final volume includes an additional chapter that delves deeper into Deku’s life as both a teacher and a hero, while also developing the romantic subplot. With these elements and a few more refined twists, My Hero Academia could deliver a perfect epilogue to Deku’s heroic journey.

My Hero Academia Has Already Laid the Perfect Plot Points to Further Elevate Deku’s Epilogue

A New Movie Could Once Again Present the Series’ Moral With High Stakes

The central moral of My Hero Academia has consistently been the power of kindness and comion, coupled with a relentless pursuit of one's goals, not only to achieve personal dreams but also to inspire others and bring about societal change. This theme is reinforced throughout the series by the protagonist’s actions, where his refusal to give up motivates those around him, and his comion encourages others to be more empathetic.

With this moral foundation and Deku's return as a hero ed by a tech suit, there's a perfect opportunity to challenge these ideals once again, possibly with an emotional twist that could catch fans off guard. Notably, Deku's new suit appears to be inspired by All Might’s Armored Suit, the one he used in his final battle against All For One, which is a design clearly reminiscent of Marvel’s Iron Man suit.

Considering how Kohei Horikoshi has consistently drawn inspiration from the Marvel franchise, this movie presents the perfect opportunity to showcase both Deku in his new suit and Armored All Might in action, much like Tony Stark and War Machine in Iron Man 2. This action sequence could lead up with a scene with Deku being trained to use his new suit by All Might in his armored form and could perfectly capture the nostalgia of the series’ beginnings. However, what could elevate this moment and potentially drive the film’s entire narrative is a powerful emotional twist: All Might’s death in this opening battle.

All Might's death in the series has always been hinted at to the point that it seemed evident that All Might would eventually die. However, this never came to , with the series making an even more compelling point about how not every hero deserves a tragic ending. Still, this unexpected loss could give the movie a compelling narrative turn, reinforcing and simultaneously challenging the core values of the series through Deku’s journey in the movie.

How All Might’s Death at the Start of an Epilogue Movie Could Create the Perfect Opportunity

Deku Doubting His Beliefs and Morals, but Eventually Returning to Them, Would Conclude His Character

Though My Hero Academia has a good narrative and its protagonist is one of the inspiring characters, the series is far from providing a perfect narrative and a protagonist. From the beginning, the series portrays Deku as a morally upright individual, whose belief in protecting others and putting them before himself never wavers. While this establishes him as a symbol of perseverance, it distances his character from realism, as real people often struggle with inner conflicts over their values.

Additionally, despite the series showcasing heroes in life-threatening battles, very few characters actually die in My Hero Academia, and those who even die aren’t deeply connected to Deku. This highlights a gap in Deku's experience of personal loss. Therefore, All Might’s death at the start of the movie, while Deku is attempting to be a hero once more, could address both these shortcomings and ground Deku’s character in a more realistic light.

All Might’s most defining moments show why he’s more than a hero. He’s an unshakable symbol of peace who can never truly be defeated or forgotten.

All Might’s death could trigger a deep emotional response in Deku, causing him to question his beliefs and begin drifting toward a new perspective. However, as the movie progresses, external influences could guide Deku back to his original morals, showcasing meaningful emotional growth that would feel more authentic to the audience. What would make this movie even more interesting are the factors that would affect Deku's journey in this movie, which, fortunately, could also address one of the series' weak elements.

My Hero Academia's Final Movie Could Make Romance the Driving Force

Heavily Inducing Romance Could Address the Series' Lack of It

Uraraka and Deku blushing My Hero Academia

One of the elements undeniably lacking in My Hero Academia is romance, which is unfortunate given the many opportunities the series had to use it to add more depth. The story clearly establishes that its protagonist, Deku, has a romantic interest in Ochako Uraraka, with their bond serving as a motivational drive to become better heroes. Despite this, the series never fully develops their relationship, with the special chapter in the final volume only hinting at the beginning of a romantic connection.

Since the final chapter of My Hero Academia shows Deku wanting to explore this side of himself, the new movie could use this as a driving force for him to return to his beliefs after straying from them. Through Uraraka and Deku’s connection, the movie could finally fulfill the long-standing lack of romance that fans have often pointed out. Meanwhile, there's another unresolved plot point in the series that has always stood out.

Deku’s father remains a topic the series never bothered to address, which, in retrospect, feels like a glaring omission. This movie could also take the opportunity to resolve this plot hole. While a major reveal isn't necessary, it makes little sense for it to remain untouched. Therefore, giving Deku’s epilogue an anime movie that addresses these plot points and challenges the core morals of My Hero Academia would be the perfect way to conclude the franchise and deliver an epic ending to Kohei Horikoshi’s legacy.
