Warning: SPOILERS for My Hero Academia's endingDeku and Uraraka are one of the most iconic duos of the My Hero Academia franchise. Not only are both incredible heroes who fought valiantly to save Japan but also loyal friends who are always there to protect each other. While their relationship has not been confirmed as romantic, the series does demonstrate that they have deeper feelings for each other.
Ochako went as far as to it that she had a crush on her green-haired friend. Deku might not have allowed himself to it he had fallen for Uraraka as the series progressed, but his actions demonstrate his true feelings. A great example of this is the fact that the protagonist used his Quirk for the first and last time in the manga to save Uraraka from danger, no matter the consequences of doing so.

My Hero Academia Finally Confirms Its Most Discussed Romance Is Actually True
In My Hero Academia chapter #394, Ochako Uraraka finally says the words about Deku that fans have been waiting for since the beginning of the series.
One For All Is Used First and Last by Deku to Save Uraraka
He Never Doubts About Saving His Best Friend, No Matter the Cost
Chapter 4 of the My Hero Academia manga depicted Deku and dozens of other aspiring U.A. students fighting against a horde of robots to obtain a place in the prestigious Hero course. By that point in the series, Izuku had received his Quirk only hours before the test, meaning that he had no control over One For All. He had already been advised to not use the power unless necessary, as he would severely injure himself if he did. Despite this, the moment he noticed Ochako needed help, he jumped at the opportunity to save her.
This first instance of Deku utilizing his Quirk was mirrored during chapter 428 of the series, in which Ochako ran away from U.A. Uravity was in pain after learning that Toga died to save her during their fight, despite her efforts to reform the villain and give her a new opportunity at life. Izuku, who had only a few embers of One For All left, used his abilities to find his best friend and bring her comfort in her time of need. This marks the last time that readers see Deku use his Quirk in the series.
Izuku did not care about losing the precious few flames his Quirk had left before vanishing forever by helping Uraraka. The events of chapter 428 are an amazing homage to the first time Midoriya used his Quirk, saving his best friend without hesitation. This being the last time One For All was present in the series makes this occurrence that much more special, as it signified Izuku accepting that being a hero to his first friend was of bigger importance than retaining his powers a little longer.
Horikoshi Hinted at Deku's True Feelings For Ochako With This Detail
Deku Holds a Special Place In His Heart For Uraraka
For many years, fans of Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia waited for Deku and Uraraka to confess their feelings for each other and become a couple. This woefully did not occur in the series, as there was never an official confirmation of these two amazing heroes starting a romantic relationship. Yet, Uraraka did state that she had feelings for her friend, both in chapters 109 and 394. The one who never confirmed his thoughts about his best friend was Izuku, who was never depicted seriously thinking about romance. Still, the creator strongly hinted at him reciprocating Uraraka’s affections many times.
Few people are as important to Midoriya as Uravity is, something that the savior of Japan is not afraid to show throughout the series. To begin with, he allowed his best friend to give his childhood derogatory nickname, Deku, a more positive meaning, one that he would later adapt into his hero name. Izuku went as far as to gift Uraraka a piece of All Might merch, something that he never did for anyone else in the series. Most importantly, he never thought twice about helping Uravity, no matter what the consequences for him could be.
Using One For All despite knowing that his body would be gravely injured or that the Quirk would disappear earlier is proof of his affection for Uraraka. Ochako is a person who inspired Deku to become better and who was there for him at his lowest points. There is almost no possibility of Izuku not feeling something more than friendship for his brunette friend. The series might not have turned this iconic duo into a couple, but there are more than enough pieces of evidence that hint they are head over heels for the other.
Utilizing One For All as a piece of evidence about Deku’s growing feelings for Ochako was an amazing decision made by Horikoshi. Although not seeing this beloved duo confessing in the My Hero Academia manga might be disappointing, it does not make the story any less incredible and emotive. Fans can be comforted by the fact that the series does indicate the relationship between Deku and Uravity does blossom at some point in the future.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk s into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the "One-For-All" quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
